“Christmas at Goodlands”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2015

We throughly enjoyed staying at Goodlands over the Christmas period.Joy had made the it look festive and welcoming with nice touches such as Christmas hats and stockings and the table laid for Christmas dinner. It is a very comfortably bungalow and we found it perfect for our family and ideal for my Mother at 89years old. Joy"s thoughtfulness and being able to provide items like a wheelchair, shower aids etc made our travelling much easier as it lighten the amount of luggage we had to pack. Our dog was also made very welcome with dog bowls, towels etc provided for her. Joy is always available to phone at anytime for help or advice .without being intrusive.

Thank you so much for giving readers the opportunity to discover Goodlands is suitable for the elderly and the family pet is welcome too! Thank you for your note to me and I too look forward to welcoming you all again in the future.

“Goodlands is an excellent holiday bungalow- spacious inside and out.”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2015

Our group of 4 adults & 3 young children loved Goodlands. The owners had put a great deal of thought into making the accommodation as welcoming and comfortable as possible.

Thank you for your lovely review - so glad the children liked running around the field! Thank you too for leaving Goodlands so tidy - it is much appreciated. Hope to see you all again. Joy

“Fantastic accommodation, a real gem for relaxing and unwinding”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2015

Goodlands has everything you could wish for, a fabulous bungalow set in a stunning setting with excellent facilities. My wife has mobility issues and the equipment provided during our stay, raised toilet seat, grab rails, shower seat, step stool plus the use of a wheelchair if needed, meant that we were all able to enjoy our holiday without concern. Joy, the owner, is friendly and more than happy to assist, without being overbearing. When we arrived she had provided fresh eggs and milk as well as a well stocked larder. Everything you could wish for in a self- catering property is there, There are a range of board games, DVD's and CD's for families. The bedrooms are generous sizes and the beds are very comfortable. The garden is a delight with views over meadows and fields. There are plenty of places to visit and an array of restaurants nearby. The beautiful coastal town and beach at Lyme Regis is 10 minutes drive away. We will definitely stay again.

And I will be delighted to welcome you all again! Delighted the mobility aids provided were helpful (complimentary) and that you enjoyed the field views from all the rooms. Clearly your children found the board games - a traditional game of monopoly is a must on holiday! I'm just so glad you enjoyed your stay in this fabulous area on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast close to Lyme Regis. See you again! Joy

“Could not have asked for more !”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2015

We are a family of 3. Myself disabled with mobility problems and my grown up son and daughter. Joy gave us such careful directions to find Goodlands and when we arrived I was relieved to find access to the bungalow was flat and parking right adjacent to the front door. We found everything in such spotless condition, and so well equipped we lacked nothing, even down to a wheelchair for me, should I have needed it. The owner herself was available and willingly answered any questions by phone or e-mail but respected our privacy, but we were so pleased to meet her on the last day before regretfully leaving. An excellent choice for a holiday, the area is beautiful.

And I couldn't wish for a better review reflecting a happy holiday from our valued guests. Hope to see you in again! Best wishes, Joy

“Great Holiday - fantastic accomodation”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2015

We stayed at Goodlands in May 2015, myself, my husband, 2 young children and my elderly mother and my father in law. The accomodation is fantastic, attention to detail of the ownder cannot be faulted. The mobility aids were great for my mum, who found the bungalow very comfortable. We used the wheelchair when out and about lots too. The kitchen is very well stocked, and all the beds were really comfortable. The grounds are extensive and the boys loved running around and riding their bikes. We went into Lyme Regis most days as we were very lucky with the weather - beautiful seaside town. Would definitely recommend Goodlands to anyone wanting a good base to explore the area. The pub next door food is great too but you need to book.

Hello! I very much appreciate your review which highlights the mobility aids available for seniors to use free of charge and that with 6 acres there is space for children to run freely. It was a pleasure meeting such a well organised leader of the holiday! Best wishes, Joy

“Excellent Accommodation”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2014

The accommodation is excellent and is just as described on the web site. It is very well-appointed with plenty of space inside and out and has absolutely everything you could possibly want in the kitchen drawers and cupboards but have forgotten to bring with you! We would certainly like to come back at some point in the future.

Many thanks for your lovely lines. Thank you for being such perfect guests. Joy

“Excellent holiday let, beautiful location - would definitely recommend!”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2014

Fantastic bungalow in a beautiful location, centrally located for the seaside towns of Lyme Regis, Weymouth and Sidmouth. We had beautiful weather and would definitely recommend West Bay as a wheelchair friendly place to visit. It was a real joy to return to the property after a long day and sit in the wonderful garden surrounded by nature! Joy was available at all times if there were any problems and we look forward to returning to this stunning bungalow again in the future. A real home away from home!

Delighted our guests with mobility requirements enjoyed Goodlands and found it suited their needs. It's very kind of visitors to leave a line to assist future guests to get an overall feel for the property and area. With best wishes and hope to see you all again! Joy

“excellent facilities for all ages”

Reviewed 26 May 2014

We have recently enjoyed a lovely stay at goodlands. The accommodation was chosen with our older family members in mind and they were extremely well catered for. The accommodation is spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The surrounding meadowland is beautiful and we saw lots of wildlife on our evening walks. The only disappointment was the sound of the A 35 which was relentless day and night but it did not stop us spending time in the garden. It should be noted you can not hear the road when inside the house. Joy Raymond is a wonderful and very conscientious owner and clearly has the needs of her visitors uppermost and made us fel very welcome.

Thank you for this review of Goodlands when our guests stayed over a busy bank holiday. Goodlands is within a stones throw of the The World Heritage Jurassic Coast and is a popular destination. These guests were from one of the Channel Islands, which from our experience this is a quiet island with a speed limit so no doubt they found English roads busy. As this visitor points out, inside Goodlands not a sound can be heard. We have given 6 acres of meadow land over to Goodlands so guests have plenty of natural space to relax in as well as a large garden area. Goodlands is set well back from the road in it's own drive and gardens, within walking distance of a bus stop and the pub. Being so conveniently located with easy access to the West, including all the better resorts and seaside towns along the coast. Our home web site is full of information, with photos and video, including satellite maps so a full inspection can be made of the property and surrounding area before booking. We have welcomed hundreds of guests over the many years Goodlands has been enjoyed as a holiday home. So glad our high standards of cleanliness were mentioned and the seniors found Goodlands comfortable. Joy

“Very nice bungalow with all mod cons you could need”

Reviewed 12 May 2014

We travelled with my parents, and choose this bungalow for its location and for my father who has limited mobility and a bungalow with mobility aids was preferred rather than a disabled accommodation. Joy was a real pleasure in the build up to the holiday in ensuring everything we needed was provided, and was there to accept delivery of a buggy, for my father to use, the day before we arrived and emailed us to confirm it had all been delivered. The Hunters Lodge pub, 1 minute away on foot, is very good for food, so good we went their twice in fact, and Millars farm shop is around 2 1/2 miles away. Axminster has some good quaint little shops and we spent an enjoyable afternoon there. Lyme Regis itself is very hilly although once at the seafront it is easy enough to push a wheelchair, just don't park at the top of the town if you do not like some seriously steep hills. Goodlands itself is very modern and was a real home from home whilst we were there. It has everything you will ever need for a holiday and the free disability items were ideal for my father, shower seat, stick on hand rails for the shower, wheelchair etc. If you need anything Joy is always on hand with help and advice. Many thanks for our super stay!

Thank you so much for your lovely descriptive review of a stay at Goodlands. I am particularly pleased that your elderly relative was able to make good use of all our senior aids to make the most of his visit. The local hire shop have a selection of scooters and they delivered promptly - I have to say I enjoyed whizzing around our large car park on it before you arrived!!!! Hope to see you all again one day! Joy

“One word 'Wonderful'”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2014

We had booked to stay at ‘Acorns Apartment’ but on the morning we was due to arrive, Joy rang to say she had an electrical problem in the apartment, she didn’t want us to be inconvenienced with workmen, so she offered us ‘Goodland’s’ at no extra charge. Goodland’s is superb a wonderful holiday home, 3 good size bedrooms, the large lounge looks out over grassy fields, ample dining space and a very well equipped kitchen. Lovely clean fresh bedding, plenty of towels and face cloths. Hand wash and body lotion provided in bathrooms, toilet, and wash basin in twin room. Joy has put a lot of thought into this holiday home, so much to keep children happy, toys games, dvds etc, lots of equipment for elderly or disabled, (even a wheel chair). Garden furniture, a BBQ, and plenty of room for children to play out side in the fields. Although a main road is near by its not noisy, in fact it’s very peaceful and tranquil. There is a pub just a 3 min walk away, and the town of Axminster is only 5 mins by car for shopping. This is an ideal place from which to explore ‘The Jurassic Coast’ Lyme Regis is less than 10 min car ride; Portland and Weymouth are not to far away.

Thank you so much for such lovely lines - I'm so glad we were able to experience Goodlands - for your second visit to our accommodations. Looking forward to seeing you again for your third visit soon! Glad the metal detecting in the fields went well - I was fascinated to see such an ancient coin! Perhaps the Royalists left it during the Monmouth Rebellion in Lyme Regis! Joy
