The sheltered private courtyard is equipped with garden furniture and barbeque.

The Apple Barn is accessed via the courtyard garden and houses my late brother's private collection of memorabilia relating to the adventures of the former owner, Doctor John Smith. Guests are welcome to enjoy this collection.

The Apple Barn has a twin bedroom with single beds, flat screen television and its own bathroom with shower. There are no separate cooking facilities.

The Apple Barn is not let separately to the cottage.

Due to the problem of allergies dogs are not allowed the property.

As the cottage is on a number of levels it may not be suitable for small children - please contact the owners for advice.

This is an excellent base for those wishing to explore the area. There are extensive walking and cycling routes to enjoy and it is close to the Dungeness nature reserve. Ashford International Railway station is a short drive away for day trips to France, or you can even fly from Lydd Airport!

"Had a wonderful time in the cottage. Beautiful and cosy place, very welcoming. The area is also nice and charming. We really enjoyed exploring the area by day and discovering classic who by night. Thank you for an amazing week."

Location description from owner

The England region

Romney Marsh is a sparsely populated wetland area in the counties of Kent and East Sussex in the south-east of England known for its natural beauty, the diversity of its habitats, rich history, extensive coastline and its sheep.

Covering about 100 square miles, Romney Marsh is one of the three great coastal marshlands of southern England. The Marsh is a sparsely populated wetland area in the counties of Kent and East Sussex in the south-east of England. Ringed to the north and west by the ancient sea-cliffs of the Romney shoreline, much of the Marsh is below sea level. Having been built up slowly from layers of silt it is a very gentle, even landscape. In the open countryside few features are over hedge height and there is a feeling of openness.

Outstanding attractions, fine food and drink, varied walking routes and many sandy beaches, Romney Marsh is an ideal place to visit, explore and enjoy.

Lydd

Lydd is one of the larger towns on the Romey Marsh in Kent, dating from Saxon times. The name "Hlyda" was found in a Saxon charter dating from the 8th century. It was originally an island, separated from Romney by the Rother estuary.
