A great base for walkers, cyclists, foodies, country lovers and golfers. Kirkby Lonsdale is an excellent base for exploring the magnificent Lake District, Ingleton Fells, the Lancashire coast and the North Yorkshire Dales. There are lots of attractions from walking, fishing, shopping, sailing to boat trips on Windermere / Coniston. There are many wonderful places to visit, Ingleton waterfalls, Ruskins view and the river Lune, Beatrix Potter's 17th century farmhouse in Hawkshead, the beautiful market town of Kendal, famous for its mint cake and Levens hall are just a few. The weather in the Lake District is unpredictable and is how the lakes are made however it can provide some lovely weather in the summer and traditional English cold but cosy winters. The Autumn leaves colour change is not to be missed. The best part is that you don't need fantastic weather to enjoy Kirkby Lonsdale as it is an all year round destination. The property is self contained and well equipped. A large living

“Fabulous Cottage”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2016

My wife and I stayed at Springfield Cottage for 6 nights. The cottage exceeded our expectations. It is well located, very presentable, and very clean. We were greeted on arrival by Sue, the owner who lives next door, who is such a nice person. Sue asked if there was anything we needed to just ask, which we did on a few occasions and we had very helpful responses. The entrance to the cottage leads into a small passage area for coat hanging etc, and straight ahead into a small well equipped kitchen. To the right is a doorway into the large lounge which had two settees and a ding table and chairs. The lounge is carpeted. Patio doors lead from the lounge into a beautiful large garden. Upstairs there is one large bedroom with space into the eaves of the roof, and a small shower room. The cottage is very clean. The bed is very comfortable. The cottage is within easy reach of the lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. There is a lovely pub opposite the cottage called The Plough. They serve fabulous meals. The stay at Springfield Cottage was a memorable one for all the right reasons and we would love to return at some time in the future

Thank you Phillip for your lovely comments, it was a pleasure to have you and you'd be more than welcome if you're able to return. Thank you.

“Lovely place to stay”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2015

A lovely place to stay, very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Sue was very hospitable and welcoming. Our two dogs absolutely loved the garden and running around playing and we enjoyed sitting on the garden having a drink, just watching them!. Very relaxing. Ingleton Waterfalls trail is a must and there are plenty of places nearby to visit.

Thank you for your lovely comments and glad you and your dogs enjoyed your stay. I totally agree Ingleton waterfalls are lovely. There are plenty of trails off the beaten track that can provide some hidden gems as well. Regards Sue

“Fabulous Location”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Springfield cottage it was comfortable and well presented . Sue the owner greeted us and ensured that we had everything we needed and although the cottage is connected to the house we were completely private but knew someone was there if needed. The location is superb, close to the Lakes and the Dales. Coming home at night to a comfortable cottage and being able to watch a movie made for a very pleasurable stay. Thankyou Sue, we would recommend your cottage to all.

Thank you for your lovely comments and hope the rest of your stay in Uk is good. Safe travels back to NZ.

A lovely balance of country cottage and modern comfort. Living/dining room and bedroom were a good size. Bed was very comfortable. Kitchen is small but perfectly usable. Nice touches like a pint of milk in the fridge and some biscuits left out.

Thank you for your lovely comments and glad you enjoyed your stay.

Had a great weekend, short drive to kirkby lonsdale and kendal which had plenty of places to eat and supermarkets . About half an hour drive to windermere. Went to the plough pub across the road from the cottage for a meal and would highly recommend it. Briefly met the owners of the cottage and they where really friendly and helpful. Cottage was lovely and warm and cosy, nice secure garden for the dog. Didnt really eat in but had all the facilities needed if we had wanted to.
