Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

Lucca and its surroundings are rich in history and, at the same time, open to the future.
Throughout the years, this medieval Tuscan city has maintained the characteristics of the small capital it has been almost up to the unification of Italy. The streets and piazzas of the historic centre, the churches and buildings, and its overall urban layout show how smooth and uninterrupted its development has been over the centuries, providing an ideal setting for a campus within which experiences can be shared and personal contact can be enhanced.
The Renaissance city walls and the natural amphitheatre of the hills beyond combine in a perfect blend of nature and the work of man.
Beyond the hills, the beaches of Versilia and the mountains of Garfagnana are uniquely attractive by their variety and closeness to the town.
Lucca has good connections to other large towns, to cities and other university centers of the region, and it is close to both Pisa and Florence international airports.
Lucca has been (until now) almost closed to tourists. Now the world has discovered its beauty, in every single little street, its magnificent historical palaces, its monuments.
You will walk looking up to see its towers and from its walls you will hold the entire town. You will love Lucca. I can assure that.

Lucca Historical Center

The most beautiful Italian region: it will offer you art, beauty, relax, pleasure, a new vision of life and the best food and wine you can expect!!!

Tuscany's scenery is real food-for-the-soul stuff. Scarlet poppy fields and yellow sunflower meadows sit alongside military-neat vineyards and silvery olive groves. And that's just a drop in the ocean. Factor in flame-shaped cypress trees and rolling hills, and you've got a feast for the eyes. Then there's the history to consider. Tuscany's heritage is written large across its towns and cities.

Climate:
In general the climate in Lucca is mild with a gentle fresh wind. There are some differences between the coast and the valleys where the summers are hotter than in the hilly areas and where the climate is very continental and rain falls are more often. Usually the summers in Lucca are hot and without rain. Spring (April and May) and autumn (October and November) is quite rainy but there are still dry, sunny days. The winter is usually sunny even if it's cold. July is the hottest month with temperatures from 23°C up to 30°C. In the coldest month - January - there are about 7°C at the coast and about 3,5°C to 5,5°C inside the province. Of course the temperature in the mountainous areas is below.

Shopping:
In Lucca there are plenty of quality shops, in particular along the Commercial Street of Via Fillungo. Timetable for the shops is Monday to Saturday, from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 19.30 during the winter. During the summer the timetable is from Monday to Saturday from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 16.00 to 20.00. Some shops remain open with no lunch break. Shops are usually open on Sunday afternoon in December.

“An excellent place to stay”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2015

We echo the good comments made by other renters of this property. Well-appointed and in a good location. Personal attention from the owner was most welcome and helpful. Potential renters with mobility problems should be aware it is on the second floor - good for getting rid of the extra pasta weight though! It may be helpful to know that the (only, as far as we found) supermarket in Lucca old city is in Piazza Carmine. Not far to walk but easier to find if you know where it is! There are other food shops of course but this is more convenient and of good quality.

Nice family, your holiday in our apartment has honored us. We hope to have you again as our guest, you will always be welcome. Thanks for your kind review.

“Light and spacious”

I stayed in lucca for ten days on my own and this apartment was perfect. Much bigger than others I saw and safe to walk/cycle back to at night. The WI-FI was a great addition and Full kitchen with washing machine and fridge freezer. Great personal attention from the owners too.

Dear Miriam, it was a pleasure to have you guest in our Casa Bella. It was very easy to get attention for your well-being because you've been a perfect host. Casa Bella awaits you again for your next holiday in Tuscany! Thank you!

“I can't wait to go back!”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2013

Casa Bella is a lovely, well-appointed, bright, sunny apartment in a very convenient area of Lucca. It has all the comforts of home, with a slight Italian accent, and it makes you feel warm and relaxed from the minute you walk in the door. GianMarco and Simonetta were wonderful hosts. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and can't wait to go back next year. A friend of mine who lives in Lucca came to visit me while I was there. She was born on the same street, just a few doors away, and used to visit her playmates on the first floor below my apartment, so she was familiar with the building. She was very surprised and impressed when she saw how beautiful Casa Bella has been made and how new all the appliances and fixtures are. She agreed with me that it is the nicest apartment I have stayed in during my many trips to Lucca. (High praise, indeed, because I have rented from both her and her cousin in the past.) She was really surprised when she learned how reasonable the rent is! I'm already checking the calendar for next year's trip.

Dear Amber, thank you for your wonderful review. A sunny apartment for a bright guest! You've lived the house as we would like our guests did: "feel warm and relaxed from the minute you walk in the door". We really hope to welcome you again!

“Lovely, spotless and well equipped”

Great apartment, obliging landlord, left water and milk in fridge very thoughtful. Extra bed ideal for people travelling with a child.

Dear Dervla, thank you for your comment. Our main goal is to offer a stay that will facilitate the holiday of our guests, and we believe that cleanliness and good equipment of the house are important factors. Hoping to have you again, best regards. GM

“Casa Bella”

A big thank you to GianMarco for providing us with a wonderful base to enjoy our short stay in Lucca. The appartment had excellent facilities and was situated in a good location within the city walls, with easy walking to restaurants, cafes and sights.Would reccommend it best suited for a couple (although a sofa bed and a single bed are also provided ). Lovely stay.

A big thanks to you, dear guests. It 's always a pleasure to host people like you. A holiday in Lucca should highlight not only architectural beauty of the city, but also to live his life and then "forget about the car and walk!" Lucca (and Casa Bella...) awaits you in the future with open arms for a longer holiday! Best regards! GM
