Set on the edge of one of the Cotswolds' most well known and attractive village (Lower Slaughter) Newlands Corner is a delightful home with lovely large rooms. Surrounded by a private garden and off street parking this is a great choice for families.

The large living room and open plan kitchen/diner are particularly attractive. The situation of the cottage over looking fields to the rear is delightful, with garden offering a similarly attractive view. There is a pub (within the hotel) which is no more than 3 mins walk away, while the popular spots of Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold are very near by too. A great cottage - in a great location in a wonderfully tranquil part of the village.

Location description from owner

The Cotswolds region

Lower Slaughter

Lower Slaughter is an absolutely classic Cotswold village; located on the banks of the River Eye, which also flows through Upper Slaughter. Probably one of the most recognisable and most photographed elements of the Cotswolds is the Old Mill which sits at the west end of the village, about 400 yards from Newlands Cottage. This was once a water mill with an undershot waterwheel and a chimney for additional steam power. The name 'Lower Slaughter' comes from the 'Olde English' name for a wet land 'slothre' (muddy place) which is reference to the land that the village sits on. It is particularly known for it's unspoilt limestone cottages in the traditional Cotswold style.

There are two top hotels in the village, one The Slaughters Inn has a good pub/bar element within. This is about 200 yards away!

The village is very convenient for Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold each within a few miles. Slightly further afield are the popular market towns of Burford and Chipping Campden but within easy driving distance.

The village is as good as it gets (in our opinion!!) in terms of Cotswolds' classics.

“Wonderful Place to Stay in Beautiful Lower Slaughter”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2016

We stayed at the Newlands Corner for 6 nights during our two-week trip to England. The house was comfortable, quiet and well appointed. It is located in the beautiful village of Lower Slaughter. We loved walking around the village by the river and taking the Warden's Path to Upper Slaughter. In the pretty field right behind the house we saw rabbits, and sometimes horses. It is a at great location from which we easily visited other Cotswolds villages and Oxford. The house was well managed (clean and had everything we needed). There was even a lemon cake in the kitchen to welcome us! We are from California and this was our first trip to England. The property manager was most kind in answering our questions and providing helpful suggestions. We will definitely visit the Cotswolds and stay at this house again.
