- Very Good
A group of 14 of us (plus a dog) stayed in Catherine's country house and cannot recommend it highly enough. From the very early stages of organising the trip, Catherine was always available to answer any of our questions. Her knowledge of the local area is very extensive and she was always on hand if we needed any help. We hired mountain bikes, walked to the local villages and visited the Tan Hill Pub. The house and surrounding gardens/countryside are beautiful and it was perfect for a large gathering. The house is equipped with everything you need and is in excellent condition. I would recommend this to any group looking for a relaxing time in the lovely countryside of Yorkshire.
Thanks for the review Ross, it was a pleasure to have your group stay - great to know everyone enjoyed themsleves
“Lovely Spacious House in Beautiful Surroundings”
For many years we have taken a short break as an extended family, this house is one of the nicest that we have been to stay at and is beautiful equiped with plenty of space for a large group, it was lovely to be able to just walk across the road to the local pub for a meal. We had a lovely time and look forward to visiting again in the future.
Thanks for the review - look forward to seeing you again!
“Wonderful Holiday Home”
A party of us spent a week over New Year at Hazel Brow, our first visit. What a marvellous location and home!!! Full of character, 3 roaring log fires, beatiful bedrooms and all the amenities we could have hoped for. We all agreed (13 of us) that it was one of the best houses we have stayed at. The weather wasn't very kind and it was very wet, but that did not ruin our stay. We still got out visiting places, walking and cycling and it was such a lovely place to come back to and to relax. Catherine was warm and welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. While we were there we had a bit of a disaster with a candle which we felt dreadful about but Catherine was very kind and understanding. All in all a lovely host and a fabulous holiday home for a large group. We can't wait to go back!!
Thanks for the review Lucy - we'll hope to see you back in 2018!!
“A wonderful place in which to make wonderful memories.”
We spent a week in this marvellous place celebrating a special anniversary with family from England, Australia and America and who aged between 18 and 80+. The venue exceeded expectations in all respects and the many additional and thoughtful touches were very much appreciated. A ‘home from home’, it is a very comfortable environment and it was easy to relax and enjoy the house and its surroundings. We also used the services of the local caterer and would highly recommend her services. Although we would like to keep this gem a secret; in fairness to Cath, we can do no more than unreservedly recommend Hazel Brow to others!
We're so pleased you had such a special celebration - thanks for reviewing us, and for the amazing photo's, we'll make sure there's space for you at the next big anniversary!
“Laid back luxury”
It rained all weekend and we had a fab time. Nobody felt short-changed with their bedroom even in the smaller rooms because of fabulous views and super comfortable beds. No queues for the loo even with 15 of us. Rooms to escape to if it gets a bit fractious, and a pub to toddle off to if you run out of booze. We cooked very elaborate feasts and there were all the plates and pots and cutlery to accommodate that. Second cooker was a bit temperamental but we sorted that out. As city folk it was lovely to be out of mobile range for a weekend. Of course the company you keep will always make your stay memorable wherever you are so pick your guest list well and you will love it. Hats off to Catherine for creating a welcoming holiday home.
“Everything we could have wished for and more”
My husband and I booked Hazel Brow through their website a few months ago as we were heading back home to the UK from Australia and wanted to get all our friends together for a couple of days. It was absolutely perfect! We couldn't have hoped for a better stay. From the moment I enquired about the house Catherine was extremely helpful and flexible which made us feel very welcome there. The house itself was beautiful and the surrounding countryside offered stunning views and great local walks. All of the bedrooms are substantial in size and incredibly comfortable. There was more than enough bathrooms to cater for the number of bedrooms and the set up was perfect for 12 adults and would comfortably have slept another couple of people no problem. The fires were lit for us prior to our arrival so that we felt right at home when we arrived and the house was lovely and warm and cosy! We made great use of the dining room and lounge which again was more than big enough for 12 and the kitchen was very well equipped for all of our cooking needs. I would highly recommend Hazel Brow to anyone and everyone. We will certainly be back again for a repeat stay and may even make it a tradition on returning to the UK!
We recently stayed at Hazel Brow House. On arrival it was spotlessly clean and has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. There were 15 of us staying at Hazel Brow, 8 adults and 7 children but there is so much room we never felt on top of each other. The dining room is a perfect size to seat everyone and the sitting room with its real fire is lovely. The weather we had wasn't fantastic but even on the colder days the house was lovely and warm and cosy. The views from the house are beautiful, there are walks you can do from the front door! Catherine the owner was extremely helpful throughout the booking process and was there to greet us when we arrived. Would definitely recommend staying in this stunning house, we hope to be back in the future!
“LOVE LOVE LOVE Hazelbrow House”
This house is stunning. Nine friends came together for a girly laugh in a fabulous house! Catherine was a fabulous host and everything was just perfect for our weekend stay. Not just over our two night stay but also before hand. Very quick to reply to emails and helped with arrangements. Great service goes a long way. We had everything from a lovely welcome pack - a drinks fridge - breathtaking views and an amazing time. Highly recommend the alpaca walk Catherine offers - bit of a giggle and The Punch Bowl pub about 5 mins walks up the road. Big thank you Catherine and we're already thinking of making a return :)
“Fabulous family house”
wonderful place to get all the family and friends together to have quality time. Very relaxed, aga made cooking a treat, VERY well equipped for large group, lots of pots / pans / glasses, fantastic dining table and views from every window. Trip to Wensleydale Creamery a good family day out from here and lots of local villages full of Yorkshire charm. Very laid back relaxed week, perfect to re-charge the batteries. Cath went out of her way to organise stair gates and travel cot, perfect hostess!
We booked Hazel Brow with the view to spending time together as a family and a break from the mad frenzy of work, we were not disappointed. The house itself is huge and beautiful inside and out, the main lounge provides the perfect setting for family games nights ( you can find lots of games in the snug ). For those who want to spend an evening relaxing the snug is the perfect room where you can curl up in front of the open fire with a book. The kids loved playing hide and seek in the house which was made even better by using the second staircase ( or secret passage as they referred to it) to escape capture. The bedrooms are beautiful, comfy beds, crisp white linen and wonderful views from the rooms. A special treat is pampering yourself in the freestanding bath whilst looking out over the landscape which is picture perfect. We spent our days wandering the hills ( there are lots of walking maps in the snug) and fishing in the river which is a short walk across the fields in front of the house, although fast flowing the river is very shallow along the banks where younger ones can sit with a net and fish for tiddlers. Christine is wonderful and ensures the house is equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay, the kids loved being able to feed the goats ( which we though were sheep) on a morning and evening after a quick lesson from Christine on how to feed them and how much food they should have. They may have put on a little weight during our week there as the kids all wanted to give them a scoop each, it was a lovely sight to see my youngest daughter wandering across the field with a bucket of food followed by her two younger brothers and their 5 year old cousin, three goats and their babies. If your idea of a break in the country is beautiful accommodation in wonderful countryside and time spent relaxing with family/friends then this is the place for you. Christine thank you for a wonderful week we will be back.
