Description

TRIP ADVISOR reviews are great and we all read them but it is not until an EXTORTIONIST starts using them against you that you realise how powerful they are. When you read our reviews please try to disregard the false and misleading reviews from a German person named Markus. He is attempting to extort money from me with the threat of constantly placing these lies at the top of the review list. If you take the time to scroll down you will find some far more realistic reviews from genuine guests. Unfortunately Trip Advisor in their wisdom refuse to help in these matters and there is nothing I can do to shut his reviews down and small owners like myself suffer badly.
We have a lovely, well maintained villa in a nice location with great staff so please consider us for your holiday.

The VILLA LOTUS LOVINA, set by itself on 1000 sq m of landscaped hillside, offers touches of old Bali, such as a large open-air verandah and Balinese open air, secluded showers and baths in the privacy of interior gardens.
The villa accommodates up to 8 people in its four bedrooms. All tastefully decorated, they have individually controlled air conditioning, TV and DVD. The great room, which encompasses a modern fully equipped kitchen, lounge and dining area, has unrestricted views of the infinity pool and the rainforests beyond.

“Fantastic!”

I can't speak highly enough of the Villa Lotus. It is absolutely fabulous. Big thankyou to Made who looked after us splendidly she is a gem find, she cooked us fantastic meals and she is just lovely. Tre also just the nicest man who couldn't do enough to please us. We were very happy with our stay and look forward to being able to visit them again. Ria the manager lives next door is also lovely. They were all available if we wanted them and very unobtrusive when we didn't. Thankyou all so much:-))

“Utter disappointment”

Terrible in every possible way. We were a family of 4 travelling with an 3 y-o & a 3 month-old (approx 20 hours between time spent at airports and on flights). Despite confirming months in advance the airport pick up we were sent a driver who had no idea where the villa was located. Following 3 hours drive from the airport to Lovina to reach at midnight we spent a further 3 hours until 3 am searching for the villa following several unsuccessful attempts to contact the owner and property manager. In spite of the terrible first impression which would have left most travelers livid we were very gracious and understanding and did not make any scene. At the time of booking we were told the maid was available to us from 8 am to 6 pm...most days we did not see her for more than 2 hours which included the time when she cooked the meals for which we paid separately USD 10 per meal. The day following our arrival and after speaking to the owner the manager finally graced us with her presence with the most insincere apology we have ever heard backed by a USD 10 meal! We were charged an arm and a leg for our stay so clearly better service moving forward would have been the way to go. The toilets, sinks, and bath tubs were never cleaned before or during our stay. The only thing the maid did was to make the bed, sweep and mop the floor in the one room we used. My husband had to manage the cleaning of the swimming pool every single day throughout our 8 day-stay. We were resigned to having a terrible stay and simply could not believe that the manager would try to rob us blind on top of everything else! Despite confirming earlier that USD 50 was to be paid to the driver the manager still added it onto the final bill! No meal price was deducted & we were charged obscene amounts for laundry which were neither cleaned nor ironed. When we first tried to clarify the manager was MIA! We were charged USD 25 for a broken lamp shade which we found out cost no more than USD 3 or 4.

Owner's reply: Thank you Mariam from France, I was very disappointed by your damming review. Yes there was a problem with the transfer from the airport on this one and only occasion. The transport contractor we have used successfully for the past 2 years let us down by sending a new driver who didn’t know the final location of the villa and unfortunately he was also dishonest and accepted payment from the guests (despite them being advised NOT to do this) and took the usual payment from my manager. The only person out of pocket here was me….the owner.  This transport operator will no longer be used by us. I do not think we can be held accountable for the 20 hour flying time with 2 young children and your choice to arrive at Bali’s airport at midnight knowing full well that there was a 3 hour drive to Lovina after arrival and the erratic  telecommunications industry in Indonesia is an expected  inconvenience to experienced travellers. Maid service in our villa, as any holiday accommodation, is not a maid in some historical sence to be ordered around and to be at a guests beck and call. Our hard working girl cooks breakfasts , cleans, makes up beds  and does the laundry every single day. As most guests request as much privacy as possible our staff have been trained to be as invisible as possible and to do their work behind the scenes, ie stay in the laundry and do pool cleaning before guests awake. Also if the guest can get the stone lamp shades that they broke for $3.00 then please tell me where. I will take 100 of them. It cost me $20 and I told my manager to add a very modest $5 for delivery and installation. I am very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your travels but know that we have had many satisfied guests in our very moderately priced, well appointed and honestly staffed vila. From airport pick up to airport drop off was a wonderful experience. Beautiful villa attentive staff, nothing too much trouble. Dolphin trip and snorkelling were amazing. Would definately recommend and return.

If you are looking for some peace and quiet, luxury and privacy then look no further than the Villa Lotus in Lovina. We spent a beautiful 4 days in Lovina and are looking forward to our return trip. Perfect for family of groups of friends. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED.

My family of six including our four children and another family with two children stayed here in this lovely villa tucked into a hillside in a quaint rural village in Lovina, North Bali. Each morning we would head out for an early morning walk up and down the very steep hilly roads, where we saw local children walking to school at 6.30am, roosters and chooks, and local dogs galore. The locals were so friendly and obviously very poor people who led simple lives farming or working with wood or stone. It was good to show our kids the real Bali. The villa itself was really lovely, huge and comfortable. The housekeeper cooked us lovely meals and did our laundry. It takes a long time to get to Lovina, but if you are looking for an out of the way place for r and r, this is it. Also if you are into diving, Menjangan Island is only an hour away and awesome for diving.

Very good accommodation, 4 km up the road from Lavina, with beautiful ocean views, large and comfortable bedrooms, semiresident cook, purser and masseuse. Bathrooms located at the rear of each bedroom, outside, in the garden. Which gives one an interesting feeling of undressing in the backyard and having a shower or bath! Must be done! The property is next to the access minor road (track) into the villages further up in the mountain and as most Balinese believe in scooters, their presence is noted from the early hours of the morning till the late evening, but certainly not a serious issue. Walking into town is very feasable and gives the opportunity to observe the local population during their daily routines, their houses, the occasional cow and pig. Plenty of photographic opportunities. However, you will need to consider motorised transport for your groceries.

We booked this property for a short getaway in Lovina to experience another side of Bali, away from the hussle & bussle of Kuta. Our hosts Andy & Lucy were absolutely wonderful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Lucy prepared our breakfast and lunch daily and kept the Villa in sparkling order, Andy was on hand to transport us to and from town whenever we desired. The Villa itself was exactly as depicted in the promotional photos, furnished in top quality balinese decor, spotlessly clean with stylish large outdoor bathrooms. The view from the villa over the infinity pool and out to the ocean was just so relaxing. We found The Villa Lotus Lovina the perfect getaway to unwind and we will definately return.

This luxury villa and wonderful staff mean you want for nothing else on your holiday! Tucked high on a hill overlooking lush vegetation and surrounded by village life, the beaches of Lovina are still in view. Take some friends, take a book or two, swim for hours in the pool, doze on the day bed, succumb to a daily massage, be treated to local cuisine prepared for you in the villa. All your needs are catered for. Although Lovina is not a shopping mecca (thankfully) and you are not surrounded by restaurants, bars and cafes, the experience of driving south to north in beautfiul Bali is unforgettable.
