Location description from owner

The England region

Known as 'Bomber County', generally 'flat' Lincolnshire has a fascinating aviation history, and much is preserved to allow visitors to explore it. Windmills pepper the area, having been milling the crops which the vast open fields have grown for centuries. Grimsby, still famous for its Fishing and has a Visitors' Heritage Centre that commemorates its hey day. Inland, the Lincolnshire Wolds (an are of outstanding beauty) has many lovely walks and little villages to visit. Towards the coast line there wild walks, plus numerous traditional towns such as Cleethorpes and Mablethorpe. With few motorways, we have retained many of the little roadside cafés, and small businesses still prosper with the easier pace of life.

Louth

Cygnus is situated in The Old Station Yard, alongside the Lincolnshire Wolds Steam Railway Station. The area is flat and affords fabulous views towards the Lincolnshire Wolds, and open skies with stunning sunsets to the west. Traditional seaside towns and conservation areas suit both the fun seeker and those seeking solitude and nature. There are 2 pubs serving food, both a level mile's stroll away, besides other excellent pubs and eateries a little further. The lovely market town of Louth is just a short drive away. Voted Britain's favourite market town, it's quaint streets, lovely shops, antiques, pubs and restaurant make it a must to visit. During late autumn and winter, visitors can see the seals that come up to breed at Donna Nook nature reserve. For the thrill seekers, Cadwell Park race track is a great day out and beautiful, historic Lincoln is approx. 50 minute drive away.

Please note from our location on the map that, we are in a lovely countryside location. Driving is the best means of transport around, although cycling is a great idea (generally nice and flat!). In addition, a bus route to either Louth or Grimsby direction is a mile walk away. Also, our lovely country pub is just a pleasant 1 mile stroll down a country lane.

“Such a peaceful getaway, just what we needed.”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2016

We have just spent two days here at Cygnus. What a comfortable and cosy little cabin. Jenny and Wayne were lovely. Gave us recommendations on places to eat which didn't disappoint. The Cross Keys is lovely. They also told us about a local event 1940's weekend which was brilliant. Situated just in front of the LWR barely heard a peep and the train was running both days we were there. The welcome in was so lovely after a long drive, a complimentary breakfast tray in the kitchen area with bread, jams, cereal, butter, coffee, tea and milk. Brilliant as it saves you having to find the nearest supermarket to get essentials immediately. What a lovely touch. Huge selection of kids books and games, which our 5 year old loved. Very homely feel. Wonderful stay! Thank you!

So glad you enjoyed yourselves, it was lovely meeting you and hope to welcome you back again some time soon
