“Unexpected beautiful oasis”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2017

You don't expect a beautiful lakeside cabin at the end of a driveway in north Louth but that's what Swallow Lodge is. Part of the Ashwater House self catering 'complex' (not really the right word for a number of well appointed lakeside cabins) we've been coming here for a number of years. This particular cabin sleeps four in two bedrooms and has a bathroom with bath and over bath shower. There's plenty of hot water and a reasonably sized kitchen diner and lounge area with LCD TV and dvd player. The outside space is what really makes the stay however with veranda and lawn area with tables for al fresco dining. All by a beautiful lake. There's parking for your car too. No dishwasher but a utility cabin offers a washing machine plus DVD's and games to borrow, "tuck" shop and shared freezer space to supplement the fridge in the cabin. If you want good value relaxed self catering accommodation in Louth you can't go far wrong here.

“Our stay was quiet, relaxing and peaceful until the last night”

We had a lovely stay. Quiet, relaxing and peaceful, unfortunately the last night wasn't so quiet due to nearby noisy children. Was sorry not to see you on our departure to discuss things with you. Thank you for an otherwise lovely stay

“Amazing stay”

Reviewed 28 Nov 2016

We had such a relaxing stay at Swallow Lodge. Total peace and privacy which is what we were hoping for. View from the front door is gorgeous and you have the option of doing as much nearby or as little as you like. The lodge was immaculate when we arrived and bed extremely comfortable. The lodge is cozy and finished to a high standard, with great attention to detail. Facilities were excellent especially considering we were so close to nature- the wifi in particular was very good and we managed to stream a movie at night as well as FaceTime the kids during the day without any problems. We hope to return soon with our two children.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind words, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again soon with your children. X

“Relaxing, cosy & spacious place to stay”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2013

Swallow Cabin part of Ashwater House log cabins is a lovely place to stay. The cabin is very spacious (big enough for 2 adults, 2 young children and a puppy). We stayed there in February and it was warm enough for us. There are plenty of places to go, even with a dog. Northcote Heavy Horse centre, Natureland Seal place and lots of walks to keep the children having fun and entertained - just remember your water proofs and wellies. The kitchen had everything that we needed, although a few more plastic cups/plates for feeding the children would be handy. The children loved the tuck shop and couldn't believe that they could walk to the tuck shop, choose their own dvds and we didn't have to pay for them. What a great idea, especially the little fridge and honesty box. This made the children feel really grown up, to be choosing their own treat. We have already booked to go back as we really didn't want to come home. We can't wait.
