The Algarve region
The Algarve promises daily sunshine throughout the peak summer months (and more than average sunny days the rest of the year!). With its unspoilt countryside and natural parks, award-winning golf courses and endless sandy beaches, it is perfect for families, sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Its many historic attractions and cultural activities add an extra dimension to your holiday.
Of course, most people come here for the sunshine, but you will not be short of things to do. The climate lends itself to outdoor living, so you can try all manner of sports and leisure activities, including cycling, walking, tennis, golf and horse riding. Families can enjoy water parks, theme parks and boat trips along the breath-taking coastline. Plus, there are plenty of organised tours that take you into the 'real' Portugal, where you can visit local artisans and see the production of regional specialities, and get to know more about the traditional way of life.
Every resort in the Algarve has its own unique character, offering totally different scenery, experiences, activities and culinary pleasures. So, during your stay here you have plenty of chances to explore and, from the most Western point in Sagres, to the most Eastern point on the border with Spain, it is under 250km, so there are lots of potential day trips for those of you who fancy venturing a little further afield.
The locals really know how to party and we enjoy lots of festivals throughout the year. Mardi Gras (normally in February) sees carnivals across the region with the most spectacular taking place in Loulé (right on your doorstep!); Liberation Day (April 25th); medieval festivals are held in Silves, Lagos and Castro Marim; special Easter festivals take place in São Brás de Alportel and Loulé. There is a famous Sardine Festival in Portimão and Seafood Festival in Olhão and in the summer there are plenty of open-air concerts, beach parties, jazz festivals etc.
Your closest town is the old market town of Loule, which is an explorer's haven, with its tiny cobbled streets and hidden away bars and restaurants. It is steeped in history, with its castle ruins and old churches, yet is the political and cultural centre of the region and host to lots of festivals, activities, as well as museums, art galleries and its very own theatre. There are restaurants galore, with something to suit everyone, from Angolan, Indian, Chinese and Italian, to authentic Portuguese and, of course, the renowned Chicken Piri Piri! There is a real cafe culture here where you can enjoy the local delicacies and fabulous coffee. Plus the shopping experience is a delight, with individual boutiques and daily fish and vegetable market, as well as the weekly Gypsy market which attracts people from all around.
Just a short drive away, you have Vilamoura, home to a casino, a luxury yacht marina, as well as countless quayside restaurants and bars, and five golf courses.
Drive a little way inland, and you are amongst picturesque hilltop villages and sweeping countryside full of hidden gems.
If you want to explore the 'real Algarve' be sure to ask us as we live only 10 minutes away and can guide you in the right direction!

"Bliss, peace and quiet but close to all amenaties."
My wife and I wanted a very restful and tranquil setting for a short break, the only mistake I made was to only book a week!! Sam and Ray made our stay very comfortable, and even provided a mobile phone for any emergencies!!! The villa is spotless and has everything you need for a memorable holiday ( even to hair straighteners for my wife!! ). The pool was fantastic and surounding countryside and views magnificent. We will be back!!
Thank you so much for your positive comments. Glad the straighteners came in handy! We hope to see you again soon.
