Mobile Food Guide Review of Café Merlot at Blake’s of the Hollow - A classic boozer and a must-visit pub on the tourist trail, Blake's of the Hollow has been in the same family since 1887 and is still renowned for its cracking atmosphere, pints of Guinness and Irish coffees. The original Victorian bar remains untouched, but there's a great deal more to this Tardis-like place than simply a fine boozer. Downstairs is Café Merlot, a cosmopolitan bistro with ornate stonework, vaulted ceilings and a forward-looking menu with global aspirations. Fresh seafood, dry-aged Irish beef and a raft of other ingredients are subjected to confident, imaginative treatment – witness grilled loin of rare-breed pork with creamed leeks and balsamic lentils or roast fillet of halibut with Thai curry and jasmine rice, for example. At the very top of the building is No.6 – a fine-dining restaurant offering similar dishes in a more salubrious setting; the restaurant has limited opening hours, normally 6.00 – 10.00pm Fridays and Saturdays only. Uno Wine Bar in the basement is a lively setting for drinks and bistro-style dishes. Taste - A new modern, innovative and vibrant Bistro and Wine Bar set right in the heart of Enniskillen - excellent food.Well worth a visit is celebrity chef Neven Maguire's "MacNean House and Restaurant" in Blacklion, Co Cavan. “unsurpassed luxury in idyllic setting”
I booked this house as a birthday getaway for my husband & mum & the house far exceeded our expectations, especially as we have been involved in holiday rentals for over 10 yrs now. This house was the most luxurious & comfortable we have stayed in to date. The welcome hamper was second to none & the house was the most comfortable & cosy we have ever experienced. The actual Lough Erne Resort was fabulous and the staff in the hotel were outstanding. I feel we have discovered a real treasure in this house & can't wait to return! Again, I would not hesitate to recommend this home most highly & we aim to return in the foreseeable future. An absolutely outstanding home! Thank you Moira & Alan!!!
