The villa overlooks Lake Vinuela and the magnificent mountain ranges of Mount Maroma. It is a short walk to the village of Los Romanes with its excellent restaurant (Miguel's is the best restaurant in the area) and bars. It is ideally located within a 45 minute drive of either Malaga or Granada Airports. Lake Viñuela is a very popular destination for those who hope to enjoy the unspoiled beauty of Andalucia.

The Villa

The house has a large, fully equipped kitchen which has been finished to a very high standard with handcrafted wooden units and granite worktops and splash-backs. There is a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, washing machine large fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is a Nespresso coffee machine and milk steamer, orange press and even a separate wine cooler.

There is an attractive large family lounge and dining area with a vaulted beamed ceiling. This is equipped with a dining table and 6 chairs, and integrated fire with feature rustic terracotta fireplace, very comfortable two and three seater sofas and coffee tables. Flat screen TV, CD player and a DVD player with a large selection of films, books and CDs, which look out to the truly stunning views of the lake and mountains.

The sliding doors open to the upper terrace, the largest, with a covered veranda area with a rattan upholstered patio set of sofa and 2 chairs and table – the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the sunset over the lake.

A large, rustic barbecue is the ideal place to cook outside. There is a large, expandable teak dining table and 6 chairs, two teak steamer deckchairs and two teak deckchairs with which to relax in.

A large, retractable sun blind which covers most of the upper terrace is available to give essential shade when needed.

The marble staircase leads down to the three bedrooms and two bathrooms and has access to its own terrace. Steps lead down to the pool terrace.

The pool area has non slip tiles and has 4 pool loungers and 4 chairs.

There is a mature, planted garden down the side of the house with lemon and orange trees and a small secluded area with begonia, orange and lemon trees at the front of the house.

There is off street parking for two cars.

A hire car is essential and we do not recommend the property for very young children or the disabled due to the many stairs.

The Axarquia

Until around a decade ago the superb landscape of the Axarquía region was little known.

Today, rural tourism comprises a large part of the local economy. The Axarquía is excellent for hiking and several companies now run walking holidays from the UK, centred around Competa. Horse trekking is similarly very popular. The landscape is riven by deep valleys lined with terraces and irrigation channels that date back to Muslim times.

Nearly all the villages that dot the olive, almond and vine planted hillsides are of Muslim origin with narrow, windy streets. Signposted routes with names like Ruta del Vino link groups of villages in one-day drives along the snaking mountain roads.

The Andalucia region

This is an authentic taste of the real Spain in the land of olive groves, almond blossom and rolling countryside. Yet it is not isolated, being just a short walk from the pretty village of Los Romanes, with its bars and restaurants and village shops. Alternatively, there are some typically Spanish bars and restaurants in the small whitewashed mountain villages such as Comares, Periana and Alcaucin nearby to explore.

A short 20 min drive takes you to the coast, a major shopping centre, Velez-Malaga the attractive capital of the region, and the bustling Spanish seaside resort of Torre del Mar with its famous fish restaurants and wonderful beach “chiringuitos” offering the local delicacy the “espeto” (sardines on a skewer) for just 5 euros!

Los Romanes

Los Romanes is an attractive traditional Andalucian village which is a short walk away. It has 3 bars and two shops - and their own olive oil press! One of the best restaurants in the area, Miguel's, is a 5 minute walk away.
