Getting around

The easiest way of seeing the whitewashed villages of the Axarquía is by car. I would say that a car is essential, however, we have had guests come by taxi and survive from the local amenities. Casa 23 provides an excellent base to explore Andalucia. Granada is only 1hour 30mins drive, Sevilla, 3hours, Córdoba 3hours and of course Malaga 50mins. There are numerous bus routes from Torre del Mar and the train station at Málaga can get you to Madrid in 4 hours on the AVE.

Interaction with guest

I provide a flexible check in time so that you don't have to worry about having a late flight and checking out at 10 in the morning! We provide a welcome pack of food depending on the time of arrival geared to your needs at no extra cost. We provide kitchen basics of tea, coffee, sugar, etc and some herbs and spices. I will proved directions to the house and where to find the key on arrival. My neighbours are on hand for emergencies and are a font of knowledge regarding local fiestas etc.. If you need any assistance booking tickets or advice on days out please feel free to ask me and I will endeavour to help. We want you to have a carefree time at Casa 23

“UNREAL”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2016

This villa was outstanding, could never tire of the views, just what we need for a relaxing 10 Days in the mountains. As a family we had all intentions of travelling about and exploring the area, but as the villa was so well equipped we spent most of our time in it. We travelled with an 11-year-old and 6-year-old and they spent most of their days in the fabulous pool. As did we :) Star Gazing at night is a must and the younger child actually fell asleep star gazing which was beautiful as do not get the opportunity to see them so well at home with the bright city lights. Highly recommend Miguel’s just up the road. Onion Rings with Malaga Honey and the Massive steaks a must, just delicious. Village has all you need in the 2 local shops if you cannot face going to the supermarket, but the stores in Torre Del Mar so well equipped and cheap. I am struggling to pay UK prices back home as we have been so spoilt. We will be returning next year.

Owner's reply: Sounds as though you had a fantastic time....as I always do myself...you never tire of that view. Glad Miguel lived up to his reputation, again I have never had a bad meal there. Look forward to welcoming you again to Casa23.

“Very comfortable villa with fantastic views”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2013

We had a fantastic fortnight at Casa 23. The villa is one of the best equipped we have ever stayed in. The views from the terrace and pool are outstanding and a photographer's dream. There is plenty to see and do in the area and a number of nearby good restaurants including one within walking distance which is always a plus. However we were enjoying the villa and pool so much we spent a lot of time there rather than sightseeing so we need to come back to see some of the things we missed!

Owner's reply: I am so glad that you and your family had a good holiday at Casa 23. We would certainly love to welcome you back in the future.

“Just perfect....”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2013

We have just returned from a wonderful 10 night stay in this beautiful villa. Everything was just perfect, the villa is a real home from home and is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The highlight for us (in addition to the perfect weather) was the absolutely stunning views from all the terraces, we enjoyed lovely evenings with good food and wine watching the sun set over the lake and mountains. Excellent restaurants can be found within a very short distance, one being just a short stroll away. Can't recommend this villa highly enough, so much so we are returning in September. Very many thanks to Sue the owner for sharing with us her delightful villa.

Owner's reply: So pleased that you enjoyed your stay. I am sure you will enjoy September as much. Thank you for sharing you views.

“An Artists Paradise -”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2012

I loved the peaceful setting, the stunning views which as an artist I appreciated and never tired of sketching. I was great being away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist spots. Although it is within easy access of the coast, Malaga city and Granada for a day trip out. The owner has thought of everything. The pool was delightful and the many terraces give you choice of space.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review. We hope to see you return to do more of your stunning art work of the area. Next time when it isn't so hot....maybe May time when all the poppies and spring flowers are about.

“Fantastic villa with breathtaking views”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2012

What can I say!! We all enjoyed our visit to the villa it was everything that was advertised and more. We certainly were sad to say goodbye at the end of the twelve days that we spent there. The views are stunning and you never get tired of staring at it. The villa was well maintained and clean and had all the comforts of home. The weather was fantastic for the duration of our stay and it was lovely to jump in the pool when it got too hot, plus you can still see the lovely view. I would highly recommend the restaurant which is situated about a 2 minutes walk away from the villa. We visited it three times and thoroughly enjoyed every meal. I would thoroughly recommend the resort of Nerja too, we spent a day there sightseeing and finished off by visiting the caves which were beautiful and tranquil. Thank you Sue for all your help and for making it a truly unforgettable holiday.

Owner's reply: What a fantastic review. Thank you very much. We do try to make it easy for everyone. We look forward to seeing you again, hopefully!

“Views, peace and tranquility that would win an Olympic Gold”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2012

We've just had 10 wonderful days at Sue's wonderful villa. The main features that make this a 5 star villa are: 1. The advanced help, advice and support that you receive from the villa owner - Sue gives you such special care and attention in advance so that you can get your holiday off to the best possible start. One special example of this was the help that Sue gave me to find out from her local contacts and friends how my son Rory and I could climb Spain's highest peak, Mulhacen, which is in the Sierra Nevada. Then there was also a wonderful welcome pack awaiting us on arrival including a chilled bottle of Cava and really practical information and guidance on the villa's facilities and local area. 2. The stunning views from the balcony - At any time of day or night the views were wonderful, but there was nothing better for me than stepping out on to the balcony with my breakfast and the only sounds I could hear were cockeral's crowing and crickets chirping. 3. A great location to see the many different sides of the Costa Del Sol - It is a wonderful place to relax in, but also thanks to its proximity to Andalucia's fantastic road network it's also a great place to get to many other beautiful spots. During our 10 days our high spots included the laidback, relaxed, cosmopolitan resort of Nerja (35 mins drive), Granada (1hr 35 mins), Ronda (1 hr 40 mins via Antequera), Mijas (55 mins) and the beautiful mountain village of Capiliera in the Sierra Nevada via Las Alpujarras (2 hours). And yet we still enjoyed some home comforts, eating a takeaway curry from a local restaurant while watching the Olympics opening ceremony in the villa.

Owner's reply: Thanks ever so much for your wonderful review. We do endeavour to help but I never imagined you both would scale such heights!! We hope to see you back very soon.

“What a view and what a relaxing place to stay.”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2012

The property has everything you need for an easy and relaxing stay. It's location is excellent with great views over the lake and valley and is easy to get to with a relatively short drive from Malaga airport. The local restaurant, just a few hundred yards up the road does good food and there are a couple of small stores in Los Romanes for basic provisions and a large supermarket a short drive away. It's a good central location for visiting towns and cities nearby eg Granada, Malaga, Antequera, Nerja etc. We're looking forward to our next visit!

Owner's reply: Many thanks for reviewing Casa 23.

“Absolutely Fantastic!”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2012

Casa 23 is a beautiful villa with excellent facilities. We have stayed there twice now which is something we don't normally do but it is so worth it. The views from the terraces are just stunning, morning and evening when you see the villages light up as night falls. The pool is lovely and spotlessly clean and the villa has everything you need for a couple, group of friends or a family. If you want to stay in first class accomodation in a stunning part of Spain, this is the place for you. Highly recommended!!!!

Owner's reply: Thanks again for your review. We try to make the villa a 'home from home'. Hope to see you there again soon.

“Beautiful setting - great views and great villa”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2012

We have just returned from this lovely villa where we had a very peaceful week with fantastic weather. The villa was very well equipped and had some useful information about where to eat, shop etc. The English neighbours were very helpful and friendly. We ate in MIguels - walking distance from the villa and El Camping - a short drive away - both of which served good food at reasonable prices. Had intended to go to the water park in Torre del Mar but unfortunately it doesn't open till later in the month. Enjoyed a vist to the Cueva del Nerja and a variety of markets at Velez Malaga, Nerja and Torre del Mar. A lovely part of Spain - the temperature ranged between 30 and 40 degrees but there was a welcome breeze so it wasn't too stifling. We would definitely stay at Casa 23 again! Only down side was the beds were a little small length-wsie for my husband who is 6ft 6in!

Owner's reply: Thank you for you're review...sorry about the beds. I think we shall seriously think about buying at least one larger bed for next season. Glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise.

“Superb Villa, with stunning views”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2012

Have just returned from a wonderful 10 days stay in Casa 23. The villa was spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Directions were spot on and the owner was on hand via email/phone to answer any queries etc. Also, the neighbours were very helpful with useful recommendations. Pictures do not do the view justice, it is truly breathtaking.. we are already missing it. Los Romanes is a very peaceful village, yet close enough to the coast/shops etc should the need take you. The kids loved the pool, which was also kept very clean. Cannot recommend this villa highly enough, you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be booking again, and have fallen in love with the area. Oh.. and if the lovely Spanish lady knocks on the door selling her local produce do try the salted almonds.... yummy (thanks for that recommendation Sue)

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your swift review. I am so glad you had a wonderful time. I agree a photo cannot capture that view....seeing is believing. I will pass your comments on to Juani about her almonds! Hope to see you back there soon.
