“Great location”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2016

This property was perfectly located for the many places we wanted to visit during our holiday. The accommodation was bright and airy, well presented and clean and although we arrived with the basic food essentials, it was lovely to find milk in the fridge. The downstairs bedroom had a very comfortable large bed and walk-in wardrobe. There was also a utility room, but we did not use any of the laundry facilities during our stay. Bedding and towels were provided. The upstairs open plan lounge/diner and kitchen was well presented, with fabulous views towards the front of the property. Comfortable seating, a flat screen TV, lots of visitor information and even a selection of board games. The kitchen was well stocked with a modern cooker (which we didn’t use) plenty of cooking utensils, pots and pans, crockery, glasses and cutlery. We brought our own tea, coffee and sugar etc. but those items were also provided. The owners Gill and Chris were very welcoming and as they were going to be away on holiday themselves during our stay, we were more than happy when asked to water their plants and put their dustbin out. Unfortunately, on the first evening of our stay while having a shower the plastic bracket holding the showerhead to the rail broke. On closer inspection it was clear that this plastic bracket had been splitting for some time, so we were only able to use the shower by holding the showerhead by hand. We put a note in the owner’s letterbox the following morning alerting them to this, however we did not hear back from them before they left for their holiday. Unfortunately, because I suffer with back problems I was not able to use the bath, therefore holding the showerhead over me every time became increasingly more difficult as the week wore on. Having read all the reviews on this property before booking it we were aware of several concerns that had been raised by previous visitors. The first being that the mobile/internet reception could be intermittent. On the day the owners went on holiday we became aware that the Wi-Fi was not connected. As it was quite important that we could access our emails, we were left with no option other than to contact Gill to ask if it had been disconnected? Gill quickly came back to us and gave instructions on how to reboot the system, which we did and apart from one other occasion, no other problems were encountered. Secondly we noted that some guests mentioned the traffic noise, which we found very noisy. The busy A road to the rear of the property meant that we could not open the upstairs back windows or the downstairs bedroom window. Maybe we are spoilt because we live in a quite area, so this may not be a problem to everyone. Our “damage” deposit was returned fairly quickly but at no time was an apology given for the inconvenience caused due to the lack of a proper shower, which was quite disappointing. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Valley View Mews and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. While we did not have a problem with the owners being away on holiday during our stay, our only concerns were what would have happened if anything more serious than the shower and internet issues had arisen – who would have been on hand to deal with these?

Thanks for the review.. We do mention in our advertising that the Internet can be intermittent due to the location of the property.. The shower bracket had never been flagged up before and will have to be put down to bad luck... It's now of course been replaced. C'est la vie!... Can't do much about the Rd I'm afraid.. “HOME FROM HOME COTTAGE”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2016

A beautiful cottage with excellent facilities. Immaculate in every way, spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. Good sized kitchen, lounge and bedroom with quality accessories, alongside the bonus of a laundry room. Ideal base for a short or long break. When you close the front door you feel away from everything and due to the way the cottage has been furnished and kitted out you are able to enjoy that much needed R&R time!. Perfect location for exploring the Forest of Dean, Cotswolds and over the border in to Wales.

Many thanks for taking the time to submit a review.. Pleased you enjoyed your stay

“Comfortable neat place to stay in lovely area”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2015

Valley View Mews made a really lovely base for a relaxing time visiting family and taking some holiday. We loved upstairs room (lounge/kitchen/diner), a real pleasure to spend time in when indoors. Downstairs bathroom and bedroom with walk-in wardrobe/storage all very nice, compact and beautifully presented throughout. Warm and friendly host just next door. Probably not ideal if you are very tall, due to sloping walls upstairs, but fine for average! We hope to return and would certainly recommend it. The driveway was initially a challenge but once you get the hang of it it's quite fun! A lovely part of Britain to visit and the Mews is perfect for 2.

Many thanks for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Chris and Gillian

“Great Location, excellent accomodation.”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2014

We stayed at Valley View Mews for 3 ½ weeks, and loved our stay. We found the location a great base for touring around the South West England and Wales. Close to the Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds. The cottage was well appointed, and had everything you would need for a pleasant stay. The welcome pack from the owners of bread, milk coffee, tea etc, was a nice touch, The Owners Gill and Chris were extremely helpful with information and advice on things to do and see in the area. The cottage, is a short walk to the lovely village, with a little shop and a post office. We would stay here again any time, and highly recommend Valley View Mews

Great couple and a pleasure to have stay, so pleased you enjoyed

“Beautifully equiped cottage, in a great location owned by some very welcoming people”

Reviewed 14 Mar 2013

We were the first paying guests to stay in the cottage. We had a wonderful time and was made to feel very welcome. I would definately reccomend this cottage to any couple wanting a few days away. The cottage is extremely well equipped and considering we were the first guests, there were no teething problems. Little extras like tea coffee sugar and fresh milk were welcomed thoughtfull touches. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to come back one day. Many thanks to Gill & Chris.

Many thanks Regards Gill
