This delightful barn conversion which is attached to the owners' house but completely self contained and private, has been finished and furnished to a high standard and offers immaculate accommodation for 2-4 people. Conveniently situated on the A40 Gloucester to Ross-on-Wye road this property offers a lovely, airy, open plan living/kitchen area with breakfast bar and french windows, leading onto a private courtyard filled with flower filled tubs. The patio has a bistro table for alfresco dining or a perfect spot to sit outside in the morning and enjoy that first "cuppa"!

The living room is tastefully furnished to a high standard and at the end of the day offers a perfect spot to catch up on all the days activities and includes a television, DVD player, DVDs, books and games. The modern kitchen has cooker/hob, fridge/icebox, microwave and all the crockery, cutlery you could need. For a small charge, the owners are happy to provide a laundry service should you need it. There are two bedrooms; one bright double aspect ground floor bedroom with king size bed and luxurious mattress. Stairs from the living room lead upstairs to a landing with velux window, 3 piece bathroom with shower and twin-bedded room again with luxurious pocket mattresses. This room has dormer windows overlooking the babbling brook and countryside beyond.

The conversion has been designed to be eco-friendly with heat retaining glass in the french doors, insulated throughout with sheeps' wool and centrally heated so that it provides a very cozy "home base" on cooler days.

There is off-road parking for 2 cars and 2 pubs within a few minutes walking distance offering good food and good ale! The nearest pub, The Farmers Boy, featured on the Channel 4 programme "Four in a Bed" in November 2011 and is famously known for it's 2-in-1 pies!

There are several award winning vineyards nearby where you can enjoy wine tastings, tours and cookery demonstrations.

The Cathedrals of Hereford, Malvern and Gloucester (where scenes from Harry Potter were filmed), take turns in hosting the world famous Three Choirs Festival. "Great place to base your holiday to the Forset of Dean"

A friend and I stayed at the house for are cycling trip to the forest of dean. The accommodation is modern and very clean. Separate entrance via a private courtyard nice, comfy beds and a nice lounge which opens on to the private patio which is great of socialising. The forest of Dean is only a few mins drive away which was great for us. If we were to go to Dean again cycling defiantly would stay again.

Really glad you enjoyed your stay and the weather was kind to you for your cycling. Think you need to come again to explore a bit more of the Forest of Dean!

"Excellent accommodation, hosts and surrounding countryside"

Very comfortable cottage with everything you could wish for provided. Lovely secluded patio which was an ideal sun trap. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with lots of long and short walks throughout the forest as well as plenty of other sight-seeing places of interest. Would definitely come back to the forest in the future and would stay at the cottage again.

Really pleased that you enjoyed your stay and had the time to explore the surrounding countryside! Look forward to seeing you again in the future!

"Great cosy getaway base to explore Forest of Dean and Wye Valley"

We had such a lovely break, and we were very impressed at how welcoming the cottage felt. Had some great walks, and in the grey wintery weather, we couldn’t wait to come back and cosy down with a cup of tea! Everything was so clean, and I especially loved the little touches that really made it home from home!

Thank you for your lovely comments. We always strive to make people feel at home when they visit us. Hope to see you again soon!

"Homely, cute, great location!"

I took my partner here for her birthday. We stayed for 2 nights and really wished we had booked a third by the time we were leaving. We're a young couple in our mid/late 20s and found it was everything we wanted. The owners were more than welcoming. The location was a very short 10/15min drive from everything you'd want to see, such as Puzzlewood, Clerewell Caves, The Secret Forest, Symonds Yat and Symonds Rock, etc. It has a very nice walk of its own 1/2 a mile at the rear of the cottage called May Hills. You'd need to drive 5 mins to it though just to save your legs for the actual walk. Very beautiful on a clear evening at sun set, with some wild horses, it really was lovely! A 100yrds down the road was a cracking little country pub called the Farmer's Boy Inn! you dont need to stray any further that there on an evening really as you can walk there, have a few drinks and a meal and walk back. The Staff are very friendly and attentive, and the food is second to none! We had theire 'famous' 2in1 pie of coliflour cheese with Steak and guiness which we thought was amazing, only to be out done on our second evening when we ordered the 8oz fillet from their specials menu....I cannot find the words to decribe how nice this meal was... all i can say is, ORDER IT and find out for yourself! It is testiment to a pub when it is consistantly busy every evening! We were lucky to get in on our first night as we never booked, but the staff made room for us!! :) We will definately look at staying here again the next time we decide to visit the Forest of Dean!

So good to hear that you enjoyed yourselves so much! Of course we'd love to see you again. As you mentioned, there are so many other places to visit. We are so centrally situated for Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and South Wales. Look forward to hearing from you!

"A lovely, well equipped cottage on the edge of the Forest of Dean"

A very welcoming reception from Veronica on our arrival to the cottage. The property was very cosy, and well equipped with everything you would want from a home. Nice comfy beds for a good nights sleep was an added bonus. The patio area was the perfect place to unwind in an evening, or to start the day with a cup of tea 'al fresco'. The cottage was in the perfect location, easy and quick access to the nearby attractions, in our 4 days we visited Gloucester cathedral, went canoeing at Symmonds Yat, Mountain biking at the forest of dean trials and Goodrich Castle. The local pub 'The Farmers Boy' proved a big hit with all the family, especially the children who enjoyed the trampoline and bouncy castle. The 2 in 1 pies were divine!! All in all a fantastic mid week break in a fantastic cottage. Thank you Veronica :-) and we hope to see you again some time at hopebrook haven!

We enjoyed having you to stay too! Really hope we get to see you again. Lots more to see and do in the area. Best wishes to you all.

"Fantastic - beautifully presented with lovely welcome"

We stayed at Hopebrook Haven for a week in August to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. I can honestly say this is the most friendly and well presented holiday home we have ever stayed in. The conversion is very new and very tastefully done and the cottage is both immaculate, sparklingly clean and well presented - small touches like milk in the fridge and tea and coffee in the cupboard on arrival was such a great feature. Veronica and Steve are the perfect hosts without being intrusive. We enjoyed a lovely friendly welcome. Other points like Sky TV, immaculate rooms and a fine array of cooking equipment and inventory really make the cottage a pleasure to stay in. Thoroughly recommended - the only hesitancy I have in giving a hugely glowing reference for the cottage is that it might mean it gets fully booked quickly next year when we hope to return! :-) Thanks again Veronica and Steve, we have a perfect holiday.

Delighted that you enjoyed your stay - we look forward to welcoming you all back next year!

"Wonderful place, happy memories!"

After doing some searching, we found Hopebrook Haven, it looked as though it was exactly what we wanted, so booked for 3 days. It turned out to be a good choice, everything was as it looks in the photos, sparkling clean, very comfortable (excellent beds) and had everything we needed. There were lots of interesting places close by, the area is so pretty, lovely walks, scenic views and a quick drive to pretty villages, with the bonus that we could walk to the local pub in the evening where they served really good meals and local beers. We'll definitely return in the summer with our 2 children and stay longer. Veronica and Steve are great hosts and a delightful couple and they've made a lovely job of the barn conversion. They're offering something special. They went out of their way to make us welcome. The little extra touches were nice, fresh flowers, tea and coffee in the cupboard etc. It comes highly recommended.
