Interaction with Guests

As much or as little as you like. I always enjoy meeting my guests & having the occasional chat when they're not busy exploring the city! But I also understand that some guests prefer privacy & seclusion.

The Neighbourhood

Roupell Street was built in the 1820s. It & its neighbouring streets of intact Georgian artisans' cottages form a designated conservation area & most of the houses are Grade II listed. So the neighbourhood is a piece of living London history. A number of period dramas for TV & cinema have been filmed here, including the popular UK TV series, Call The Midwife. The street is quiet but lively, & very friendly - there are many young families living here as well as people working in all areas of the arts. The famous bakery at the end of the street, Konditor & Cook, is a daily temptation that's hard to resist. We are in the heart of the London arts scene, too, with the National Theatre, the Old Vic, & the Young Vic all a very short walk away, as well as the Southbank Centre with its concert halls & art galleries. Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe & Borough Market are also only a twenty-minute walk from the apartment. The immediate vicinity is very colourful & alive with many independent shops as well as pubs, bars, cafes, restaurants, & a good choice of supermarkets. There's an excellent Foyle's bookshop in Waterloo station & another branch on the south bank by the Royal Festival Hall. I have lived here since May 2010 & can't imagine wanting to live anywhere else in London.

Getting Around

In addition to the local train stations, it's a twenty minute walk into Covent Garden over Waterloo Bridge, which most Londoners agree affords the city's most breathtaking views. You can also walk into the West End via the Millennium footbridge right by the Southbank Centre.

Other Things to Note

Please ensure that you notify me immediately if you have any accidents or if there is damage to anything in the apartment.
