Location description from owner

The England region

Oxford Street is Europe's busiest shopping street, with around half a million daily visitors, and more than 300 shops. It is the most frequently visited shopping street in Inner London, attracting over half a million daily visitors and is one of the most popular destinations in London for tourists, with an annual estimated turnover of over £1 billion. It forms part of a shopping district in the West End of London, along with other streets including Covent Garden, Bond Street and Piccadilly.

Every Christmas, Oxford Street is decorated with festive lights. The tradition of Christmas lights began in 1959, five years after the neighbouring Regent Street. Current practice involves a celebrity turning the lights on in mid- to late-November, and they remain lit until 6 January.

London

Oxford Street Attractions are very popular and amazing - See some of them as listed below:

The Palace Theatre which opened as the Royal English Opera House in January 1891. The name of the theatre was finally changed to The Palace Theatre in 1911. It’s played host to many fantastic West End shows, including Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Woman In White.

Wigmore Hall - one the world's most important recital venues. It was built in 1901 by the German piano firm Bechstein. This venue holds a unique place in London musical life and the world's most sought-after soloists and chamber musicians play here. It also helps talented young artists as some of them make their first professional appearance in London here. Every week a concert is broadcast worldwide on radio and the internet through BBC Radio 3.

Selfridges- It was founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge in 1909 and is the second largest shop in the UK (after Harrods). You can spend hours in here because it has everything you could possibly want - and more!

There are some great little hideaways tucked behind Oxford Street such as world-famous Carnaby Street. It was the centre of London's ‘Swinging 60s’ scene and is filled with boutiques selling vintage, designer and high street fashion.

“Great place to stay!”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2012

This apartment was a lovely place to stay, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Centrally located it is a great jumping off point to see many of the sites of London. Very close to the wonderful British Museum. Across the road from a lovely park a wonderful restful place to stay. Would recommend it to anyone. Our family, my wife and three teenage children enjoyed the convenience of having our own space and ability to do meals ourselves when we wanted to and to be able to do washing when required. A great week in don, hope to come back again sometime.

“Perfect apartment for a family”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2012

We were so happy with this apartment. It is in a great location near Holborn station and close to a supermarket and with a park opposite. It's also around the corner from Jun Tanaka's restaurant Pearl which is certainly worth going to. It is fairly quiet at night which was a bonus. Having two bathrooms was handy as we travelled with our teenaged children. The apartment itself is very comfortable and we would certainly stay there again.

“A home in the city, perfect location, delightfully decorated and very comfortable.”

Reviewed 30 May 2012

This is the second time we have stayed in this lovely flat and cannot recommend it highly enough. It is equipped with everything you need. It is comfortable and relaxing to come home to at the end of a busy London day. The garden is absolutely lovely and is clearly well loved. The area is central, yet quiet and so not too noisy at night.

“WONDERFUL, QUIET CENTRAL LONDON LOCATION”

Reviewed 23 May 2012

This two-bed, two-bathroom apartment is located in a building on a small crescent complete with a small park and a pub on the corner for the odd pint. We were amazed that in such a central location, the apartment is so quiet. Although the building is older, the renovations are first-class. The electrical wiring is of a high standard, the bathrooms are great and the kitchen surfaces and appliances are top level. The Wi-Fi is free and works perfectly. Although we walk a great deal, - and some may not, - the apartment is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Holborn station on the Piccadilly line. Most of the "popular" London sites are easily accessible from the Piccadilly line. We walked east to the City of London museum and west to the Houses of Parliament with no problems. If you are staying for more than a couple of nights, do buy a “rechargeable” OYSTER Pass from the Underground. These passes can be topped up and certainly save cash. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though we were subject to the odd April Shower, my mother always told me that English rain is good for the complexion and that it makes the hair curl.
