“Perfect for our requirements”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2015

We enjoyed a sun-baked week at Notre Niveau. Our party was two adults and four teenagers (16-19yrs) and we needed a flexible mix of chilling by the pool, activity, book-reading on a shady terrace with a view, freedom to head into town in twos or threes as well as space in the villa itself. It fitted the bill in every respect. Lodeve isn't a tourist trap by any means (and all the better for that) but has enough cafes and restaurants to suffice. We would heartily recommend Le Petit Sommelier. And the Saturday market is impressive in its scope. The villa had everything we needed: a sizeable pool, plenty of places to relax, nice view and a good gas barbecue.

Delighted to hear you enjoyed your holiday.

“Wonderful stay for 4 adults, 2 children”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2013

We we totally pleased by these accommodations. The house has plenty of room (we were a party of 4adults and 2 children), a nice swimming pool, and all the furnishings that we needed. We dined on the balcony. Lodeve itself has a full Saturday market and a smaller Wednesday one. We would be happy to return here.

“dirty”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2012

We booked this villa at the last moment, so some excuses can be made, but we did not expect to find that the villa had not been cleaned for some time prior to our arrival. There was a thick layer of dust on all the surfaces and the floor had not been swept. The beds were not made up. (Maybe this is normal with holiday lettings , which we had not used before?) The owners had left many of their personal toiletries etc around, which gave us the feeling of intrusion. That said, this is a pleasant house in a good position.

I was shocked to hear that the house was not cleaned prior to your arrival, I have contacted the owner to find out what went wrong, I can only assume that there was a breakdown in communication between her and the housekeeper. Had you contacted me on arrival I could have arranged for her to come and do a good clean through at your convenience as I only live a few doors away from Notre Niveau. I do try to ensure that the houses I manage are clean and prepared for guests arrival and have not had a similar problem in the past at Notre Niveau and will find out what went wrong to avoid it happening again. The owner also replied 'The housekeeper tells me that she called at the house to put out bedding - she wasn't sure at that time how many rooms were needed so didn't make up the beds. As I had been there recently and always clean before I leave she didn't open the blinds to check. Dust does accumulate quickly out there but I certainly didn't think it could be that quick. The only thing I can think is that a terrace wall had collapsed and the builders were arriving the week after I left to rebuild it and - maybe - that caused the problem. Whatever the reason, it was not appropriate that you arrive to find you have to clean the place. I do provide shower gel and hand wash and people leave sun screen etc which I have left - similarly with some food, teas etc but if this feels intrusive I will ask the housekeeper to ensure she removes things after each let. Thank you for you comments and good luck with your search for a property. I certainly found it challenging!

“Fabulous Villa”

Reviewed 22 Jan 2012

Fabulous villa in a fabulous location. The villa is very spacious. Myself and my husband travelled with two teenagers and also had a friend and his son to stay for a few days. There was more than enough room for all of us. The villa is very well equiped. The pool is a very nice size and enough sunbeds for everyone. The main bedroom is on the top floor with a balcony which is the room myself and my husband stayed in. The only downside was that there was no air con and the room was very, very hot at night. The area itself was very sleepy. Restaurants shut fairly early so you defintely need a car if you stay here. Large supermarket very close to the villa and bakeries walking distance. I would 150% recommend this villa to anyone. I would defintely stay here again. Thank you again to the owners!
