Description from owner
Amazing, tranquil, spectacular - just some of the words our previous guests have used to describe Trullo Azzurro and its setting. It is a beautiful trullo, which we lovingly restored and maintain, employing traditional methods and materials to retain its magical character. It is composed of two fully-equipped, conjoined houses with patios and a pool - ideal for two families or larger groups of 8-10 people. The left side of the property (trullo house) is more traditional in style and sleeps 4-6. It has 5 trullo cones composing 2 bedrooms (a double and a twin), lounge with a double sofa bed that can be screened off to create an additional bedroom, kitchen/dining room and bathroom with a shower. The right side of the property (Lamia house) is partly lamia (used to be storage) and partly traditional trullo, sleeps 4. One travel cot available. Wifi. In quieter / cooler periods it is possible to rent just the Lamia house to sleep 4. The property is surrounded by a garden with olive and fig trees, an enclosed south-facing courtyard and a back patio both paved with traditional old paving stones. There are sun loungers and umbrellas for relaxing; barbecues, garden tables and chairs for al fresco dining. And for cooling in the summer, an 18ft x 9ft above ground pool. Trullo Azzurro is situated on the west facing slope of a delightfully quiet valley with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Around 30 minutes by car from fantastic beaches. A great place for relaxing away from it all, whilst being ideally located for exploring the sights of Puglia.

“Good example of a trullo and great location for exploring the Puglia countryside”
The trullo is located in tranquil surroundings with spectacular views over the Puglia countryside. The accommodation is traditional and offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The property has two patios, one a suntrap and the other slightly cooler, for those wanting to take it easy. However, there is plenty to explore in the area. There are two beautiful old towns, Cisternino and Locorontondo, very close by and both have weekly markets - the food stalls are a "must see" for the wide range of local produce. There are plenty of restaurants in both towns and I can recommend the local food and wine! A trip to the coast is also worth it and lunch at one of the many beachside restaurants makes it a great day out. Puglia is still relatively unspoilt and I liked that.
““Trullo azzurro - truly lovely!””
We spent 10 days at the comfortable and characterful Trullo azzurro , situated some 10-15 minutes drive from the nearby town of Locorotondo with its lovely old quarter and many fine restaurants. This is one of only several towns having historic centres to explore within easy reach of the trullo: Cisternino, Alberobello, Martina Franca and Ostuni all meriting a look. >> >> Like most self-catering accommodation, Trullo azzuro offers so much more space than a hotel bedroom plus the benefit of wide patio terraces with far-reaching views of the surrounding countryside. Although we visited late in the season, from late September into October, we enjoyed lots of meals outdoors in the warm sunshine making good use of the superb local produce. Late evenings were getting cooler though at that time of the year. >> >> The proximity to the towns in the area enabled us either to visit a place in the morning and have lunch out, or to chill out with a book during the day before going out late afternoon. It's worth noting that most towns are really quiet during the afternoons as this is 'siesta' time and not much happens until about 5pm when the shops open again; note also that the markets operate only in the morning. >> >> Although we enjoyed good weather it was not achingly hot so did not miss having a pool. The coast is only some 40 minutes drive away though for a dip in the sea and can be combined with a trip en route to elsewhere. >> >> All in all everything went very smoothly and we greatly enjoyed our experience. There are so many places to see that we hope to visit again before long. >> >> Incidentally, the trullo is located some distance along a narrow track which on first traversing seems quite intimidating, becoming less so after a couple of passes. Indeed the sense of 'being away from it all' adds greatly to the charm of the place. Don't worry about having to find your own way there as you will be guided from Cisternino by the very friendly local agent for the property.
“Getting away from it just got a whole lot better!”
We have just enjoyed an amazing week in a very unique property in a very special location! Mark and Mary have painstakingly renovated their trulli and it was a pleasure and privilege to be there. The location is remote, up a winding road past lots of other ancient trullis and then up a dirt track to your very own trulli with only the birds for company - perfect! All the mode cons needed for a great self catering holiday are available, even regional wine and food stuffs to start your stay off like the locals! Great Mark and Mary, thank you!
“comfortable, well-appointed trullo for unique holiday experience”
We had an excellent holiday in this beautiful trullo set in the middle of the Puglia countryside with beautiful views over the vines and olive trees. The trullo has all mod cons, with dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle, tv, dvd, wifi and plenty of towels for bath and beach. Sheets were beautifully ironed on arrival, and the welcome pack included tea, coffee, water and wine. Outside there are two terraces with lots of parasols, sunbeds, chairs etc for al fresco dining and sunbathing.and we picked the ripe figs from the tree in the garden for breakfast.. The house is not on mains water, but when the water tank ran dry the agent phoned the water company immediately for us, and a new tanker full of water arrived within a couple of hours. The agent and his wife are both very helpful and recommended lots of good eating places to us. There are some lovely little towns to visit nearby, and there is a guide book in the trullo giving details. We also found some excellent restaurants and went to a local food festival dedicated to the local pasta, orecchiette.
