The Loire Valley region

Loire Castles: no visit to the Loire Valley would be complete without visiting some of the famous Chateaux - Chenonceau, stretching across the river Cher, considered by many to be the most beautiful of the Loire chateaux; during July and August the gardens are illuminated at night - Villandry, with its oustanding gardens.
Brenne Regional Park: we are situated on the edge of the Brenne Regional Park which covers over 160,000 hectares. Famous for its lakes, numbering over 1,000, they provide a diverse natural habitat for an abundance of wildlife.

Futuroscope theme park is close to the city of Poitiers and can be reached in around an hour from your gite.

Loches

Amboise is a charming town on the bank of the Loire. Although there is a beautiful château to visit there is also a Renaissance manor house (Clos Luce) that was the last home to Leonardo da Vinci and it contains a large number of his inventions. Close by is the Aquarium du Val de Loire which has the largest fresh water fish collection in Europe.

Loches is a medieval citadel that is only 30 minutes drive away. This exceptional town has impressive city gates and narrow cobblestone streets that lead to a château and an enormous keep that is famous for its torture chambers. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a large market and in July and August there will be night markets.

“A Great Place To Stay”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2015

Right from the start, when we were greeted by the very friendly owners, Marie and Marc, this has been by far the best gite/villa holiday we have experienced. There were four adult members in our group, and we rented a two-bedroom gite with all accommodation being on the ground floor. Plus points: • Great location - Easy to find; close to some wonderful places of interest; fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. • Very well-appointed gites - Marie and Marc have thought of everything, including free Wi-Fi and Sky TV, with lots of our English channels. Our gite was spacious and very comfortable. Many unexpected extras in the kitchen, like a food processor, garlic press, a good selection of PYREX ware, IKEA storage containers for food, and many more items. Also, I needn’t have brought things with us such as washing-up liquid, liquid hand soap for the bathrooms and kitchen, dishwasher tablets, or lighter tablets for the BBQ - because all of these things were already provided. • Welcome pack - Tea, coffee, sugar sachets, mini breakfast cereals. Fresh milk, butter, eggs, delicious local goats cheese, bread, and a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge - a lovely way to begin our stay! • Own outdoor space - We had a very pretty paved patio area, which was covered by a wisteria-laden pergola, and was furnished with a mosaic table, four chairs, and a parasol. Next to the main patio area, we also had a second patio area for the BBQ, and additional outdoor seating space. • Heated swimming pool & pool-side shower - This was a real treat! - a warm shower before getting into an equally warm swimming pool. The pool has a large and high-ceilinged glass housing, which is electrically operated to open and close it according to the weather. This means that the swimming pool can be used every day. • Comfortable sunbeds - situated on the large lawned area around the swimming pool. Also, there are parasols beside the sunbeds. • Well equipped-games room - Including a pool table, table football, ………. • Play areas for both children and the older-but-young-at-heart - There are two swing areas - one for children up to the age of ten, and another for the over tens and adults. There is also a boules pitch ………………. • Laundry facilities - situated in the games room. Negative points: There are none! We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked to go back there next year - what more can I say!

“Fantastic Property and Thoughful Owners”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2015

The gites are spacious, clean and well equipped, with sun terraces for relaxing and eating outdoors with own BBQ. The property is located in a quiet rural location a few miles from local villages and towns with a large shared swimming pool which was well used! There are plenty of things to do / visit within an hours drive - the many chateaux built in the Loire valley, Futuroscope park, canoe / kayak on the local rivers, walking / cycling as well as lazing by the excellent pool or using the on site activities - bikes, table tennis, badminton, table football, etc Marie and Marc have been perfect hosts, supplying a small welcome pack and ensuring that everything has worked ok. They organised a food and wine tasting one evening with a local sommelier which was fantastic and all the restaurant recommendations we tried were well worth the visit.

“Lovely relaxing holiday”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2014

Bouleau at luxury Loire Gites was just what we had hoped for. Well equipped and comfortable, cot, high chair, step etc provided for our young children. The setting was beautiful and the grounds, games and pool wonderful. Our kids did not want to go out anywhere as they had such fun playing hide and seek in the grounds, swimming and playing. Great that the pool can be covered for wet days. We loved nearby Loches, the local town Chatillon had interesting historic centre and delicious food at the recommended L'Auberge de la Tour. Local chateau at Azay -le -Ferron was great, as was the local animal park. Being able to use bikes was an added bonus. Marie and Marc were lovely hosts and couldn't have been more helpful.

“Great Stay in the Loire Region”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2014

We had a great week staying in the 2 bedroomed apartment - Bouleau. It was really well equipped and was very comfortable and spacious. The grounds and setting of the property were also excellent with losts of space for activities including cycling and the pool area was great as well All in all we had a great holiday here and would recommend it to anyone – we will certainly be back

“Relaxing and peaceful”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2013

We stayed in Villa Bouleau - it was spotless, very well presented, well equipped and beautifully maintained. The grounds were outstanding and there was so much to do - our 15 and 10 year old were never bored, what with the heated pool; outside activities and games room. Marie and Marc were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, all you had to do was ask. Before we visited, we had decided to visit Paris by the TGV train and Marie kindly reserved us a car parking space at the train station and even printed directions on how to get to the train station; Marie recommended and booked us a table at a nearby restaurant (as neither me or my husband speak much French). A car is essential but within minutes you can visit National Parc Brenne and Reserve de La Haute Touche or travel a little further and visit the many wonderful Chateaux or Beauval Zoo which is a 'must see'. We will definitely be recommending to friends and family and hope to make a return visit soon. It was somewhere for us to de-stress and recharge our batteries and it certainly did that.

“Fab return”

This is was our second trip and we had another great holiday. Marie & Marc do everything they can to ensure you have a lovely stay. The accommodation is great, the pool is amazing and the kids loved the indoor and outdoor games. And when we wanted to go out you are really close to great chateaux, the zoo and nice vineyards. Really great!

“Loed it, loved it, loved it.............”

After travelling throughout Europe for some 8 weeks we found the villa an oasis of calm while the ease of daily sight-seeing was an added bonus. The owners were a delight and could not have done more to make us feel so very comfortable. Perfect for couples and families alike.

“Great for family with a young child”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2012

We (myself + wife + 2 year old son) had an excellent holiday at this property. The accommodation was very clean and furnished to a high standard. Our son enjoyed the ample green space to wander around in, the covered swimming pool, and the play area. Good idea to have the washing machines in the games room as it meant we were not disturbed by the noise of having a machine in our kitchen.

“Unparalleled accommodation and hospitality”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2012

We had the most marvellous stay at Bouleau. Marie and Marc were wonderful hosts, starting from the moment we arrived with a (very!) welcome pack to an extensive tour of the property and the facilities plus the surrounding area. Wonderful facilities including bikes, swimming pool, table tennis, badmington, snooker table, not to mention home from home domestic appliances and kitchen and bathroom facilities. We were given lots of information on the locaility and Marie even offered to take and pick us up from the local restaurant so that we could have a drink. I could (and have!) waxed lyrical about this place for days, suffice to say I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
