The property really was a Smithy in its time, now sensitively converted, it takes you back to a time forgotten. Thick stone walls, oak beams and flagstone floors, with an acre of country garden skirted by the River Honddu.

Abergavenny is 20 minutes by car with its castle, shops and restaurants. The historic town of Hay-on-Wye, a famous literary haven, is 30 minutes away with numerous indendent second hand book shops and gift stores. Or venture further afield to Crickhowell, Brecon or Hereford, all within the hour. Nearby attractions include Llanthony valley has lots to offer. Cistercian Abbey which is just across the country lane. The crooked church at Cymyoy is well worth a look, as is the ancient Partrishow. The Llanthony Valley offers pony trekking in the National Park, Grange Trekking in Capel y Ffin offer treks for all abilities from March – October.

Shower room: with shower and WC, located in a separate building accessed via the garden. Lounge: with open fire, piano and selection of traditional games. Kitchen/diner: with electric oven and hob and microwave. Outside: an acre of garden with outdoor furniture and BBQ. Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen, towels, electric and under floor and central heating included. Regret no smoking. Regret no pets. Additional info: welcome cake on arrival. Washing machine located in a separate out building. The owners live in the attached Forge, which in no way encroaches on the privacy of the cottage or it’s gardens. Location: shop and pub within walking distance. Arrival: 4pm
