The Wales region

The huts are in a woodland clearing at the lower end of Cae Marchog farm, home to The House in the Hills, hidden from view beside Digedi Book. Hay Bluff rises up on one side and the Twmpa (Lord Hereford’s Knob) on the other. The dramatic Gospel Pass and Offa’s Dyke wind through the Black Mountains above the huts.

The market town of Hay-on-Wye, known for its bookshops and literary festival, is less than five miles away.

“Building memories with the children”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2016

Me and my 2 children (11 and 8) stayed here in the summer with another family with children of similar ages and we had an absolute blast. It was a fantastic experience for the kids who had a chance to help with the harvest with a local farmer, collect firewood, build dams by the stream and make campfires. As others have mentioned, the hill walking and views are spectacular. The shepherd huts are remarkably comfortable and well equipped - I almost forgot we were camping. The owners have carefully thought about and provided everything that you would need for a fabulous stay while remaining environmentally sound. The night-times are perfectly serene with a billion stars to admire - clearly able to spot the odd shooting star. All-in-all we can't wait to go back this summer.

Owner's reply: Dear Hannah, Thank you for your wonderful comments. The children who stop certainly get to experience the great outdoors in a safe environment. We look forward to welcoming you back again this Summer. Kind Regards. Sian

“Exceptional”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2016

We had the most exciting and memorable stay at The Huts in the Hills! When we arrived the little log burners in the huts were lit so it was so cosy and warm and such a lovely welcome. Four of the huts have very comfy double beds and a sitting area so you can curl up and read a book in front of the log burner and then there is the utility hut equipped with everything you would need and a lovely wood fired stove and a very modern shower room. It was great fun cooking over the camp fire and my highlight was star gazing in the cedar wood hot tub - when warm the wood smells devine. Attention to detail is second to none. We will definitely be returning and we would highly recommend The Huts in the Hills for a holiday

Owner's reply: Dear Sarah, Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad you had a memorable stay in the huts. The Hot Tub is proving a big hit with guests after a day out hill walking. We look forward to welcoming you again sometime to our special place.
