Description from owner

Description

A newly furnished, cosy and well equipped cottage in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Situated in the village of Llangattock, less than a mile away from Crickhowell, near to the 16 century church of St Catwgs, the property was once part of the village school hall dating back to the 1890s.

A short walk through the church grounds and across a water meadow takes you to the Usk river and the stone arched bridge crossing over to the picturesque market town of Crickhowell. There is a fantastic range of pubs, restaurants and shops: including a bakery, butchers, grocers, florists, gifts, homewear, outdoor equipment and clothing. There is also an art gallery and tourist information office.

The cottage has 1 double room (sleeps 2) and 1 large twin room with an additional sofa bed (sleeps 2/3). The double room has lovely views over to table mountain and Crickhowell. All the beds, mattresses and bedding are of high quality. The bathroom has a shower over the bath and is in immaculate condition. All bedding and towels are provided.

The Kitchen is modern with a gas hob and electric oven. The kitchen is very well equipped if you should decide to cook during your stay. Crockery and cutlery is all new and of a high standard. Coffee, tea, sugar, hot chocolate, herbs and spices are provided for your use, and a welcome pack is also provided.

The sitting room has a large sofa and 2 leather armchairs providing a comfortable place to relax after a days walking. The log burner effect electric fire and gas central heating ensures that the cottage warms up very quickly. TV, DVD player, WIFI and Bluetooth stereo are available. Maps, tourist information, books and games can be found in the dresser.

The dining area can seat up to 6 and is situated next to the patio doors in the main living room.

There is a small unenclosed garden at the front of the property with a table and two chairs. There are many beautiful walks which can be started at the cottage, including Table Mountain, the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal and Llangattock escarpment.

“Excellent location and accommodation”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2019

The cottage was in a great location and easy walking to Crickhowell with its lovely pubs and independent shops. Whether it’s flat canal towpath or Table Mountain your looking for the car doesn’t have to move. The accommodation was extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped next to the church (loved the bells on St David’s day). Don’t be put off with allocated parking in the car park. It is only 20/30 paces to the front door. Organisation and contact from the owner before we arrived was excellent, leaving us to just enjoy it once there - thanks Val, you have a lovely cottage. We will definitely book again as didn’t get to do everything in a 3 night stay.

“Wonderful Brecon Beacons”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2017

Such a well equipped and perfectly located cottage. The peace of Llangattock but at the same time having the convenience of all the facilities of a Welsh town just 10 minutes walk across the water. We found everyone was so friendly and to have a wonderful array of independent shops was a real bonus. The butchers in Crickhowell were excellent, in fact we didn't eat out much in the evenings as we enjoyed choosing our meals to cook in the cottage. The cottage was immaculately maintained and the furniture was of very high standard, we felt like we were staying in someone's home rather than just another holiday rental.

Owner's reply: We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for the lovely review - we have tried hard to furnish the property to a high standard and equip the kitchen so guests can do some "proper cooking" if they want to!
