THE GREAT ORME HEADLAND

Ty Haf is ideally situated for exploring the Great Orme either by car, by bus (the bus stop is directly opposite Ty Haf), or on foot. Take the car, the tram or the cable car up to the summit and enjoy the magnificent views. The main tram station is only 4 minutes walk away.

The King's Head, the oldest public house in Llandudno with cosy log fire, is just a four minute walk away. Sit outside and have lunch or a drink and watch the trams leaving the main tram station for the summit.

Opposite the King's Head is the award winning Fish and Chip Shop where you can also sit outside and enjoy the magical atmosphere.

The Dry Ski Slope, Snowboarding and Toboggan Centre which is very popular with families is only 5 minutes walk from Ty Haf.

The Great Orme Ancient Copper Mines dating back 4,000 years to the Bronze Age are an enjoyable and educational experience for both children and adults as you walk through tunnels mined out over 3,500 years ago.

Marine Drive, with its magnificent views towards Anglesey, Puffin Island and Conwy Castle is a must, especially on a lovely summer's evening when you can see the most spectacular sunsets when you are approaching West Shore. You pass the old lighthouse and the distance around Marine Drive from North to West Shore is approximately 6 miles. If you do not want to walk round then you can drive round by car or you can get the Marine Drive bus.

St Tudno's Church, parts of which date back to the 12th century, hold an outdoor Sunday service during the summer months (held inside the church if wet). the scenery is spectacular and there is a special free taxi service from the Holy Trinity Church in LLandudno which leaves at 10.30 am and returns from St. Tudno's at 12 noon. Dogs and children are most welcome and it is certainly a lovely experience!

You are likely to catch sight of the herds of wild Kashmir mountain goats that roam freely over the Great Orme and occasionally appear outside our cottage!

The miniature golf course and tranquil Haulfre Gardens are also only a few minutes walk from Ty Haf.

Llandudno

The Victorian town of Llandudno, known as the 'Queen of the Welsh Resorts' nestles between the Great and Little Orme and boasts a good variety of shops, restaurants and bars. There is also a 1500 seat theatre with top class entertainment.

The wide sweeping bay of Llandudno is ideal for that early morning/evening stroll and has a fine Victorian pier where you can browse amongst the kiosks picking up souvenirs from your holiday! There is a Punch and Judy show and donkey rides to keep the children entertained..

A Victorian Extravaganza is held in the town of Llandudno during the first weekend in May.

There are two 18 hole golf courses within a 10 minute drive from Ty Haf.

It is an ideal base for touring Anglesey and Snowdonia.

Conwy Castle and the smallest house in Great Britain are only a 10 minute car ride away

The Roman town of Chester is 45 minutes away.

“fantastic!”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2013

I visited Ty Haf and Llandudno during Eastern. The homeowners are very kind and willing to welcome their guests. The cottage is fully equipped and has amazing views over the North Promenade, Great and Little Orme. You can see the sheep go to the barn every night from the window! Not only was the cottage very well located within Llandudno with the shopping area and Promenades nerby, the railway station is near as well from where Snowdonia National Park, The Isle of Anglesey and Conwy (to name a few) are easily accessible. A fantastic place to stay where you get value for money indeed!

“glorious location”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2012

ty haf is an attractive well furnished small house up on the lower slopes of the Great Orme, with splendid views of the Llandudno bay. The kitchen is particularly well equipped, we were delighted to be greeted by the owners bearing fresh milk; they also provided a welcoming bottle of wine, plus tea, coffee etc. The beds and bedding were excellent. Careful thought has gone into the provision of extras like games, dvds, cds, patio furniture. It's convenient for walking the Great Orme, and to West Shore, strolling on the prom and shopping in Llandudno, We spent a week there in mostly wet weather but still didn't need to use the car. The walk up the hill is hard going but the bus stops right outside and taxis are cheap (less than 2 bus fares) and plentiful. There are some steep steps up to the house.

“Don't miss this exceptional property.”

One of the finest rental properties I have seen. From the welcome and explanations by the owners to the quality of the apartment itself, you could wish for no more. I felt that I would like to live there! Fantastic views over the east shore of Llandudno. A short downhill stroll to the centre of town.
