The North Wales region

Denbigh/Flint/Conwy

Llandudno is a seaside Victorian town, set in the beautiful North Wales cost.

The Victorians and Edwardians loved Llandudno so much they named it the 'Queen of the Welsh Resorts' and built some of the most elegant seaside architecture in the UK. American writer Bill Bryson calls it 'his favorite seaside town', and we tend to agree with him!

In this part of the word, the emphasis is on sea views, award winning sandy beaches, walks, spectacular mountains, castles and proper fish and chips.

In fact, LLandudno offers two sandy beaches. The North beach envelopes the beautiful bay of Llandudno with its lengthy promenade and elegant pier. Completed in 1878, the pier is known for it splendid Victorian and Edwardian elegance. The West shore beach shows a quieter side to Llandudno and is renowned for its spectacular sunsets over the isle of Anglesey.

Protecting the town is the Great Orme headland, rising to a height of 203 metres - a wildlife-rich country park and special area of conservation. It is home to a long-established herd of about two hundred Kashmir goats, houses numerous paths for walking on the summit and the special landscaped gardens of the Happy Valley.

For the adventurous, the Great Orme houses the dry ski slope, toboggan run and rugged cycling opportunities.

For the less adventurous, take the Victorian Tram from the lower slopes of the Great Orme to the summit. Llandudno is fortunate to house Great Britain's only remaining cable operated street tramway, which is one of few surviving in the world. From the summit, enjoy breathtaking views of the North Wales cost. Alternatively, take the cable car from the Happy Valley to the summit.

Explore Llandudno's link with Lewis Carrol's timeless classic. Both Carrol and the young girl who inspired the character of Alice visited the town and their legacies are celebrated in this new exhibit - a number of expertly crafted statues dotted throughout the town.

From kite flying, rock climbing, wind surfing, to walking, sunbathing, shopping or just relaxing taking in the astonishing views, Llandudno has it all.

Reviewed 21 Aug 2016

This was an excellent and very clean apartment. It suited my mum, aunty and Uncle very well. Location was very central and the owner was very helpful and friendly. Would certainly return - we had a wonderful and comfortable stay.
