Description from owner

Description

The Bell Ringer's Cottage in Llandegla is one of 4 dressed stone cottages opposite the historic church of St Tecla. It was built around 1866 at the same time that the church was being reconstructed, and originally was a workers cottage for Bodidris Hall. It sits just yards away from the Offa's Dyke foot path.

Llandegla is situated in the Vale of Clwyd and is an ideal base to explore North Wales and Cheshire offering plenty of activities, places to visit and local walks of different levels right from your door step. Llandegla also has a wonderful general community run village shop and cafe.

The cottage is deceptively spacious and has retained many of its original features including beams, exposed stone walls and has been newly refurbished and furnished to a high standard.

The ground floor offers a cosy comfortable lounge featuring an Inglenook fire place with log burner and a fully equipped kitchen/diner that leads out to a pretty sitting area in the cottage garden

Location description from owner

The Denbighshire region

Some of the most spectacular scenery in Wales lies along the Vale of Llangollen, where the Rivers Dee and Clwyd thread their way through steep wooded valleys and lush water meadows, overlooked by mountain ranges with peaks more than 2000 ft in height. Northward, the tortuous Horseshoe Pass winds between the mountains of Llantysilio and Eglwyseg toward the fertile Clwyd Valley. As the Dee runs eastward, it loops around the ancient market town and industrial capital of North Wales, Wrexham, where St Giles' steeple is one of the traditional 'Seven Wonders of Wales' - no fewer than five of the seven are to be found in Clwyd. The foaming River Dee at Llangollen tests the bravest of canoeists, and further up-river anglers can fish salmon and trout.

The county's wooded hillsides provide for hill climbers and walkers, while the attractive twisting lanes around Glyn Ceiriog are a motorist's delight.

Llandegla

Llandegla is well known nationally for its Mountain Bike Centre - One Planet Adventure, Coed Llandegla, also for fishing and shooting at Fauxdegla, but most importantly Offas Dyke path runs just a few yards from the cottage.

Llandegla village is only a short drive (10/15 mins) to Llangollen, Ruthin, Mold, Wrexham or Chester.

“Brilliant.”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2016

Just love it here. Perfect location for cycling and walking. The cottage had absolutely everything you would need, a real home from home. Best of all, it's dog friendly, our Labrador and springer loved it too. Will definatly be back.

“Home away from home!”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2016

We absolutely loved this cottage and enjoyed every minute of the 5 nights we stayed here. Carol was there to meet us upon arrival, and showed us around the cottage, and included recommendations for things to see and do around the area. Cottage had everything, kept very clean, very well equipped and we couldn't have asked for anything more. While hubby and son went out for walks everyday, I had no reason to leave to step outside the cottage for two whole days, and loved it. I would definitely come back and stay again. Thank you, Carol!

“A wonderful, cosy cottage!”

This cottage was perfect for a New Year break, with a wood burner to keep us warm and cosy. Carol supplied everything you could need, the cottage is very well appointed. The village is lovely and quiet with good walks around. A pub within walking distance was a bonus too!

“What a gem!”

My wife and I stayed at The Bellringers Cottage for five nights, along with our dog Mollie. We had the most fantastic welcome from the owner on arrival, and a welcome pack which included everything you could possibly need, including treats for Mollie. The cottage was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. The log burner was laid ready to light, including a large amount of coal for our stay, there was plenty of local information on the local area for walks, pubs, restaurants, day trips etc., and the owner was always at the end of the phone for any tips or advice. The cottage is situated in a lovely village and we did some lovely walks, straight from the door. All in all, a first class cottage, highly recommended.

“Perfect stay”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2015

Me and my family had the perfect stay at the Bell ringers cottage. From the moment we pulled up outside I was immediately put at ease. The cottage is lovely and looks better in real life, you really feel like you are away from it all but still with great paces to visit nearby, so best of both worlds. Inside the cottage it is beautifully decorated and Carol has done a great job making it a home from home. I have never stayed anywhere that is so well equipped, literally everything you can think of is supplied and it is spotless. This was great especially as I have 2 young boys (aged 2 and 9 months) and we normally have to take a lot of things with us, however a highchair, baby bath, changing mat, travel cot and lots of clean sheets and blankets was kindly provided by Carol, not to mention the children's books, and games too! The 2nd bedroom which has 2 single beds was so lovely and cosy that my 2 year old had no trouble sleeping by himself. We made the most of the weather sitting out in the garden with the patio table and my son loved seeing the "resident woodpecker" most mornings! All in all it really is a lovely place to stay and we are all missing the place. Would definitely not hesitate in staying here again. Lovely cottage and a lovely host.

“Real home from home comfort.”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2015

Myself, my wife and our son stayed here this week and were more than pleased with our choice of accommodation. The cottage is beautiful, practical and meticulously maintained. Do not underestimate the importance of being practical, some places can make you feel you are walking on eggshells, there is none of that here. We used the cottage as a base for visiting family within the area and while we were here took in some of the wonderful sights and experiences to offer. A morning at Loggerheads Country Park with the grandchildren, including lunch at Caffi Florence went down well. Both were exhausted and asleep long before we got back. A 19km. trek around the mountain bike trail at Coed Llandegla had the same effect on me. We also took in Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Llangollen. One downside which has no bearing on Carol, our host, was the temporary lack of shop facilities in Llandegla (closed due to illness) which meant a drive out to Coedpoeth or Ruthin for any food or drinks. Talking of Carol, any contact we have had has been positive and we left with the feeling that nothing is too much trouble. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone and would return quite happily ourselves.

“Exceptional Cottage!”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2015

Just back from a wonderful few days in the Bell Ringers Cottage, which was simply perfect. Very tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, secure enclosed garden, and the most fully equipped kitchen we have ever come across. We were greeted on arrival by Carol, who just couldn't have been more helpful, sharing details of local walks and advice on local eateries. A forest pass was provided which meant free parking and we had a lovely afternoon exploring the moorland walk. Carol left us a hamper full of delicious goodies which were a welcome treat after many hours of travelling. There was also milk in the fridge, fresh water bowl set out for the dog, and the kettle boiled. All of these little things make such a difference, and are just an example of Carol's thoughtfulness and attention to detail. Highly recommended!

“Clean, friendly and full of facilities”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2015

We loved our stay at Bellringers cottage. Owner Carol is lovely and very friendly. The cottage is perfect with everything you need. We received a hamper with personalised items and even items for our dog. We were offered many facilities for our baby and cannot fault this cottage in any way. We would definitely return and recommend this cottage to everyone.

“Excellent in every way.”

Bell Ringers Cottage provided us with the perfect location/ accommodation for a break with our daughter and pets. It is very well equipped and presented immaculately. It's owner. Carol gave us a very warm welcome and introduced us to the cottage and the area. Really looking forward to going back for our next stay in August.

“A very pretty cottage in a beautiful part of North Wales.”

I have rented many properties all over the UK, but I can honestly say I have another found one so well equipped! From poo bags (for the dog of course) to washing powder, The Bell Ringers had it all :) I must mention that......The boys loved the 'proper' coffee (and my other half is very fussy)!! 10 out 10 :) The hamper was a lovely touch, and very thoughtful....There was even a treat for my sisters dog :) Ooh....And we were also left complementary toiletries and plenty of towels :) If you're thinking about booking, think no more.....I guarantee you won't regret it :) xx
