Description

Shortwood Barn is a contemporary barn conversion in the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The house itself is both extremely comfortable and has a superb finish - and as a very recent conversion it also benefits from the best of environmentally friendly features. It was shortlisted for a design and build award from Bath Council and also featured in March 2018 edition of Buildit magazine as a “wow factor conversion”

The ground floor is a great place to have fun as it is spacious, airy, open plan and with a high degree of comfort and all modern conveniences. There are multiple large glazed doors which offer easy access to both terrace and garden and the fields beyond. There is also a separate utility and downstairs toilet

The upstairs accommodation is relaxing, quiet and comfortable. It comprises 2 doubles, both with en-suite, and 2 twin rooms with a large family bathroom.

The master bedroom has a glazed balcony with uninterrupted views - a great place for an early evening glass of whatever you fancy. Drink in the views at the same time.

The Barn is an easy and delightful 5 minute walk to a great local pub, The Litton, and there are numerous walks to other neighbouring villages with good pubs

The Barn is wonderfully rural, yet within very easy reach of 3 great cities. Bath and Bristol are 12 miles away and Wells is 7. We benefit from a rich diversity of culture which also includes Glastonbury, Cheddar and Wookey Hole - all very conveniently located.

You need a car....but cycling around quiet lanes is fun...or just walk to neighbouring villages (and their pubs)

Interaction with guest

One of us (Sarah or Justin) tries to be on hand to welcome guests to briefly explain how 'stuff' works and answer any questions that wasn't answered through their own site. There is also a dropbox with access to front door key. The code is shared shortly before arrival We live in the neighbouring property so are usually around to help in any way required. However, as this is a peaceful rural location we like to give our guests space to do their own thing and relax

No parties or groups larger than 8 people (including visitors) are allowed on the property under the permissions granted and insurance purposes.
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pushchairs, highchairs or cots, so we cannot accommodate infants
Additionally restrictions apply to groups where no-one is aged 25 or over.
Guests are responsible for all damage.
We would ask that guests do not wear footwear with black rubber soles - they appear to mark the floors- thanks for your understanding

“Perfect family accommodation!”

What a wonderful place to stay! Shortwood Barn was perfect for our family of seven - very comfortable, well equipped and in a lovely quiet location. Within easy reach of Bath, Bristol and some superb countryside this is a great house with a contemporary feel. Justin and Sarah have thought of everything and were very accommodating - thanks to them both. We would love to revisit!

Beautiful large barn with great modern amenities. Quiet location with superb views. Good local pub in Litton village. Close to Bath, Wells, Glastonbury and other lovely Somerset locations. Owners Justin and Sarah were very helpful. Would certainly recommend to anyone.

Absoluely ordered the house, already recommended it to several people! Stunning location and modern finish to the barn. Justin was fantastic, promptly answered questions, gave freat directions and there was prosecco and cake waiting for us...what more could you ask for!
