The Kent region
Romney Marsh, with its peaceful countryside, wide open spaces, wildlife, pretty villages and churches and the beautiful long stretch of coastline also has a rich history of smuggling. It is a paradise for walking and cycling. Close to the border of East Sussex, the historic towns of Rye, Hastings and Battle are within 1 hour's drive. There is also lots to see and do in the "Garden of England ", such as visiting Dover Castle and underground rooms and the White Cliffs, the grand Leeds Castle and historic Canterbury are also within 1 hour's drive. In addition, there is easy access to France and the Channel Tunnel and its great to take a day trip over.
London is within easy reach by fast train from Ashford International, taking about 35 minutes. In addition, with the mildest and dryest weather of the UK, this part of South East England makes it an ideal place to holiday.
Littlestone, which is on Romney Marsh, has a long sandy and shingle beach with shallow waters and great views around the bay to the White Cliffs of Dover, Folkestone, Dymchurch and Dungeness and occasionally you can see over to France. This area of coastline has arguably the best beaches in the south-east. Popular with artists and photographers are the multi-coloured beach huts, little boats and beautiful sunrises over the bay. While away a summer's day sunbathing on the beach, building a sandcastle, taking part in watersports or taking a stroll along the dunes.
The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, a narrow guage railway with steam train is a short walk away - you can take a fun trip to the next seaside town of Dymchurch with amusement park, or the pretty seaside town of Hythe. In the other direction is Dungeness, where you can visit one of 2 lighthouses and see fishermen's cottages. There is also a nature reserve, great for bird watching.
Within a 5 mins drive from the house is the Romney Marsh Visitor Centre. The famous dunes at Camber Sands is a 20 mins drive away. Also the quaint old town of Rye, with cobbled streets, antique shops, art galleries and harbour is 25 mins drive. Port Lympne Wild Animal Park is about 20 mins drive. Brenzett Aeronautical Museum is a 20 mins drive.

"Can't wait to go back"
The location was scenic and convenient with a bus stop outside the house next to a well stocked shop and very quiet. The area is flat so was great for biking. The house was well priced with plenty of of space, it was very clean and the owners were very helpful with advice on the local attractions to anything we needed in the house.great holiday
