The apartment was fully recovered a couple of years ago and it was totally refurnished this year - so everything is brand new! Its unique cosy and modern style will surely make you feel at home from the start. In the bedroom, a brand new bed and a comfortable mattress are expecting you.
The house is perfect for a couple, but it accommodates comfortably up to 3 people (or 2 adults + 2 children). Everything is provided: bath towels, linens and sheets. The kitchen is fully equipped and with all utensils for self catering. Also, we have cable TV and free WiFi all-over the apartment. A kids pack is available on request (children's seat, bed and bathtub).
The apartment has excellent noise and thermal insulation windows, however heaters/fan are also provided.
It couldn't be more central! The building is located on a peaceful alley in the typical Alfama neighbourhood – the oldest and most charismatic in Lisbon - just 20 meters from one of the main streets in Alfama (Rua dos Remédios), where you can find almost everything: Fado restaurants, trendy bars, grocery stores, typical bakeries with fresh bread, souvenirs, liquor stores, old barber shops, you name it...!
In this beautiful Alfama pedestrian alley surrounded by flowers (it won the 1st prize on a local contest to choose the most typical street!), a good night's rest is guaranteed as it's surprisingly quiet and silent during night period.

Forget the city maps, and all crowded tourist places! You're in the perfect place if you like to wander around the old city, with no specific purpose - just for the discovery, and to lose yourself in the middle of these ancient, Moorish alleys and staircases, decorated with orange trees and little fountains, the tagus river showing around in every corner... Lisbon is a mysterious charming city, with magical light and colours, and this is truly the best way to get to know it!
If you're in to feel the real heartbeat of the city and make contact with "alfacinhas" (as we call Lisbon inhabitants) you shouldn't ´t miss "Feira da Ladra" - the oldest and principal flea market in Portugal (Tue. and Sat. start at early morning). The apartment is just 5 min walking from here.
It's also within walking distance to down-town (Baixa) and several other beautiful landmarks (Panteão Nacional, Castelo São Jorge), churches and Belvederes (Igreja e miradouro de Santo Estevão, Santa Luzia, Graça) and Museu do Fado, just to name a few.
Nearby you can also find trendy and fashionable places like LUX (one of the most renowned night clubs in Portugal and Europe) and some great gourmet restaurants and delicatessen stores (Bica do Sapato, Deli Delux).

My girlfriend and I stayed at the appartment for 10 nights at the beginning of September. We took the owners advise and got a taxi from the airport as we had two suitcases, however looking back at it, it would have been much easier and cheaper to simply jump on the Metro to Santa Apolonia station. From there, you head out the main doors and walk for 2 minutes across the 'car park' (it's not exactly a car park but all the taxi's wait there). From there you fork right and then you'll find a few small restaurants. There is a stairway by the restaurants and you simply climb the stairs till you reach number 10. This is easier as the taxi's don't always know where the apartment is, and in our case, we had to walk up a huge hill with the suitcases not knowing where to go. Always google-map the apartment prior to getting there, as you'll find my route and it's so much easier. The apartment itsself is small - but for two people there is enough room. Everything works and it's cosy. There were only a few small niggles that put me off: the key to the door is extendable and when trying to open the lock it keeps retracting; making it a task to open the front door. The streets are noisy. We heard people screaming, singing, banging and building works during our stay. Lastly, the bed is on a wall which has something on the other side which makes a lot of noise late at night when you're trying to sleep. It was annoying especially when you want to get up early. Apart from that, I'd highly recommend the apartment; Jose and Susana were lovely; thank you for the great stay!
Thank you so much for your review! Regarding the apartment directions, we always provide a detailed map to our guests, fully describing the best way to reach the apartment, either if you come by subway or taxi - in fact is relatively simple to get there. About the key issue, in fact it was really broken and we had to replaced it. We'd be more than happy to promptly fix it (as we normally do with this sort of issues) if you did tell us about it :-) The alley where the apartment is located is relatively quiet and calm, specially during night period, as normally all our guests refer. Despite that, the apartment's windows provide very good noise and weather isolation when closed. We're glad you had a wonderful experience, and hope to welcome you back! Thank you so much.

We have spent 6 nights in the appartment and found it really confortable for my son, daughter and I, since it is fully equipped, nicely decorated and very well placed in the city.

"Perfect base for a trip to Lisbon in a fascinating part of the city"
The apartment offers everything a couple could need for a wonderful stay in a lovely city. The location is fascinating and in our opinion was far and away the best possible area of Lisbon that we could have stayed in, with everything close by. First impression is that the area is a little run down but it is not the case at all. Walking round the intriguing narrow roads and alleys, even late at night, felt perfectly safe and regularly surprised us with finds of delightful little restaurants, our favourite of which was the Corkscrew which is just to the left of the entrance to the alley. We were treated there to the best steak we have ever eaten, all cooked at our table. (A tip if taxi driver does not know the particular road that the apartment is in is to tell them that it is near the Museu do Fada). Be aware though that the area is littered with steep roads and staircases and there are 2 steep flights of stairs to the apartment but the rewards are well worth it. Despite the lively area we found the apartment to be very peaceful as well as comfortable. In summary it is a lovely apartment in a fascinating part of a lovely city, would definitely go again.

"Excellent, cosy apartment in the heart of Alfama - Definite recommend"
This apartment was perfect for our stay in Lisbon. It is situated in the heart of the Alfama district and just five minutes walk from the Santa Apolonia metro station. It had all the essentials and Abel (the owner) was even kind enough to leave a few treats, such as sweets and wine, for when me and my girlfriend checked in. The apartment was newly decorated, had all of the essentials (TV, hairdryer, cooker, grill, WiFi etc. ) and was a good size for two people. It may, however, be a tad small for groups larger than that. Abel (and his friend Pedro who was there to help us check in) were very helpful throughout our stay. They were in touch regularly to make sure everything was okay and their suggestions for places to visit and things to do were brilliant. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience and would definitely recommend the apartment for anyone looking to visit Lisbon.
