Location description from owner
The South Aegean region
The Aegean islands are located a long way south and Rhodes itself was a staging post for the Knights Templar on their way to the crusades which leads to an interesting mix of Greek , Byzantine and also Italian cultures.Temperatures in Lindos rise from mid to high 20s in April through to low 30s in late June and mid 30s in August back down to mid 20s by the end of October and it is still warm enough to swim in the sea at Xmas. It is very unusual to see any rain between April and October with heavy rains falling in November to February.
Rhodes is a large island and offers something for everyone.Lindos is carefully protected and consists of a warren of whitewashed fishermen's cottages and captains houses dissected by pebbled streets narrow enough only to allow access to donkeys and mopeds. The buildings are hollowed out to offer a wide range of shops and bars and an eclectic mix of superb dining from traditional greek to rustic Italian at Broccolino to world class nouveau cuisine at boutique hotel Melonos. Everything is dominated by the ancient Acropolis set high above the town.Beaches range from the stunning bay of St Pauls to family beaches at Navarone Bay (400 m from the villa ); to the sweeping beach at Prassonisi 30 km to the south , famous for hosting world windsurfing championships.Activities range from spas in Lindos and also at Lindian Village resort 5 km away where it is also possible to hire catamarans and windsurfers. Tennis is available and the island's golf course is 15 km north of the villa where there is also a waterpark available for the children. Further afield , it is possible to take diving trips and day trips to Turkey.Rhodes old town is the largest inhabited medieval town in Europe and although the Colossus of Rhodes no longer exists there is still a wealth of history to explore whilst the new town offers modern shopping , clubs and dining experience. We chose Rhodes because it is exceptionally varied and there is so much to do that we are able to go back repeatedly.

“Stunning luxury villa in a beautiful peaceful location with views”
Villa Athena is a home from home. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly want to make your visit a memorable one. The villa is maintained to an exceptionally high standard by Alex the property manager who is so welcoming and goes above and beyond to ensure you have a comfortable stay. We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival with a fridge containing essentials (including a bowl of fresh fruit, beer and wine - they really do think of everything!) to keep us going until we could get to a supermarket. The villa really does have everything you could want. The American Fridge Freezer with Spring filtered water really comes in useful on a hot day and many days the most exercise we did was getting up from a sun lounger to head to the fridge for a glass of iced water. Sitting outside with fresh coffee in the morning was most enjoyable. The infinity pool looks out to Lindos bay and the views are simply spectacular. We never tired of sitting by the pool taking in the breath taking and uninterrupted views. A car is recommended but not essential and we walked to both Pefkos and Lindos to enjoy the wide array of restaurants, bars and shops. Rosie and Jules provide a wealth of information for your stay about good places to eat and their recommendations were spot on. The bruschetta at Broccolino restaurant in Lindos is an absolute must. We enjoyed more than one BBQ at the villa and the local supermarkets are easily reached by car or taxi. I can't recommend this villa highly enough. The photos look beautiful but it is really only when you step inside the villa that you fully appreciate how beautiful and well maintained the villa is. We would definitely return to Villa Athena.
“Perfect View, Perfect House, Perfect Holiday”
We selected Villa Athena for the view but we will come back for the house. Set in an ideal location, just outside of Lindos Town, the Villa has all the amenities and is kept in top shape by its fantastic owners and excellent property manager. Many families will trek no further than the large, modern deck area with infinity pool and a spectacular view of the bay. Others will take the short ride to Lindos town with its idyllic setting at the base of the Acropolis and its many bars and restaurants (warning, many are closed in the off season, not an issue for us but may be for others - we prefer it the way it was). Though we are not beach people, many beaches were close and the Town of Rhodes, with all its history, was a traffic free 50 minutes away. Alex, the property manager, ensures the guest is properly set up, and gives perfect recommendations whether you are a true tourist, or looking to travel inland and "go Greek". The house is big, airy and in fabulous shape - its six bedrooms can accomodate a large family and the house is divided to the point where it could easily accomodate an extended family as it has three master bedrooms, on three seperate levels along with smaller rooms for kids. The view, the view is everywhere you look and the large sliding glass picture window/wall ensure that you are never far from it. Villa Athena made our Greek vacation. I have used vacation homes, around the world, and for almost 15 years. If not number 1, Villa Athena is certainly among the top 3 all around, that we have ever stayed in
We were slightly concerned when you booked to visit in late November as we have never had guests quite so late in the season and are pleased that the weather was good for you and that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you in particular for the kind comments about how well Alex looks after the place - she will be pleased.
“5* Villa with amazing views and in a great location”
This villa really has it all. It is maintained to an excellent standard and I was happily surprised to see upon arrival the villa was even better than in the photos. The owners have thought of everything you might need for your stay. The location is great, only a few minutes drive from the beaches and cobbled streets of Lindos, with pleanty of restaurants shops and bars. The villa has enough space to make it feel private from the others around without being in the middle of nowhere. Having never visited Lindos before, I would highly reccomend it and will definately look to come back and stay at Villa Athena myself.
Thank you for the kind comments - I wish that I was a better photographer and could capture it properly ! We would be delighted for you to stay again
“Beautiful clean Villa with amazing views”
This place really feels like a home form home, the owners have taken great care to make you feel comfortable without too many rules. The location is great, though you would need a car to get to the beach & the town. The ppol and outside areas are kept immaculately clean. All the rooms and shared areas are nice. There were 7 of us and we had plenty of space. In fact we liked it so much we will probably return next year.
Thank you . We are very fortunate that Alex looks after the villa so beautifully. You are very welcome to come again - fill it up next year & bring your friends !
“We loved every moment, the Villa met our requirements perfectly!”
I would definitely recommend a stay at Villa Athena, we stayed for 2 weeks and all our needs were met during our stay. The Villa itself is decorated and presented to a high standard, the facilities are great (especially the air-con in nearly every room, and the ice machine on the front of the fridge). 10 of us stayed and we all agreed that we visit again, Thanks for making our stay so great!
“Amazing villa, amazing location”
11 of us stayed at this villa - 6 adults and5 children. We all had an amazing time. The villa is brilliant - extremely comfortable and well equipped . We hired a car which I souls say is essential. This allowed us to stock up at the supermarkets for lunches and evening drinks and also to drive into lindos to dine each evening. The pool was a huge success and the views are wonderful. St Pauls bay is worth a visit. We would love to return to this villa.
“Villa Athena was a peaceful oasis of calm and comfort”
We were a party of 12, including 4 teenagers and 2 younger children. The villa was very nicely furnished and extremely comfortable. The location was beautiful and very calm but only a 5 minute drive from Lindos which has some really nice restaurants and bars as well as a stunning view from the top of the Acropolis. Alex the villa manager was very helpful and available to us when we needed her. We spent most of our time hanging around the pool area, relaxing and enjoying the view. No-one wanted to leave and we would definitely consider visiting again.
