Location description from owner

The England region

An area of outstanding natural beauty. Lakes, mountains, pretty villages and welcoming pubs. Do as much or as little as you want and get away from the pressures of modern life.

“Cumbria contains some of England’s most intensely beautiful and varied countryside. The Lake District mixes soft green dales, cobbled towns, stark mountains and mirror surfaced lakes. An incredible variety of breathtaking scenery is crammed into a small area. The rugged Cumbrian Mountains are dramatic and challenging and offer countless walks amid uplifting scenery.” - Lonely Planet Guide to Britain

Lindale

Grange -over -Sands is located a 5 minutes drive from the cottage. This is a pretty Edwardian seaside town. It has a wide variety of independent shops with its own butchers (highly recommended - Higginsons), bakers, greengrocers, cafes and restaurants.

The cottage is located away from the crowds but has easy access amongst others to Windermere, Bowness, Hawkshead, Ambleside and Coniston. Also close by are Grizedale Forest (with an excellent "Go Ape" ropes course), Holker Hall (house, gardens and a flower festival in May), Cartmel (with the famous horse racing each May bank holiday and the historic priory) and the Lakeside Stream railway which connects to the Windermere Cruises. A full pack of tourist information leaflets is available in the cottage to allow you to make the most of your stay.

“Perfect peace and Quiet”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2011

We arrived in beautiful sunshine. Easy to follow instructions to access the cottage. Doors open to let the sunshine in and familarise ourselves with the cottage. The children enjoyed sharing a room. We are members of the National Trust and visited as many places as we could. Visting Hill Top was a highlight and then Hawkshead. Fell Foot Park take a picnic and just watch the boats go by. Bliss. Visit Ullswater and Aira Force, fabulous for a walking and beautiful scenery. We went for many long walks We would recommend the Royal Oak pub for evening tea and especially Sunday dinner. We have re-booked for next year!
