24 Burton Road will appeal to people interested in visiting this historic city, whether to see the magnificent cathedral, to explore its history , to attend a graduation ceremony or a concert, or to shop for antiques, clothes or presents.

The house is cottage in style and although the sitting room is snug with 4 people in, the middle room and kitchen have been opened out to give it a light airy feel, making it a very pleasant place to sit around the table. Two bedrooms share a good sized bathroom with shower and bath. Centrally heated. High chair and travel cot available.

The large kitchen opening onto a sunny patio is inviting for families and offers the opportunity to save on restaurant and hotel bills, though with the many bistros and restaurants close by, visitors are sure to be tempted.

Location description from owner

The England region

Lincoln is steeped in rich history. Whether your interest is in medieval, Roman or aviation history (think Dambusters and Red Arrows) , in archaeology, art or antiques, there is plenty for the enthusiast.

Lincolnshire is known as a county of long sunsets, windmills and leisurely cycle paths but the visitor is often surprised to find the gently rolling hills of Tennyson country to the east, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its own market towns such as Louth and Horncastle. To the south you find a string of quaint villages along the escarpment known as the LIncolnshire Edge with a network of country walks, some criss crossing with the Viking Way and interlocking with enticing traditional pubs.

Driving west brings you to Robin Hood Country with country parks (try Clumber Park) and Sherwood Forest.
Lincoln city itself boasts the historic area around the cathedral known as Bailgate, as well as a being a vibrant city offering all the amenities expected of a university town. Connecting the two is the aptly named Steep Hill with its fascinating mix of boutique shops, where you can buy everything from jewelry to vintage clothing,as well as plenty of galleries and cafes. Don't miss The Jew's House!

Lincoln

With Ellis Windmill, the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, the cathedral and castle, the Joseph Banks tropical house and Steep Hill all on your doorstep, 24 Burton Road offers an effortless way to discover this lovely city.

The city is flanked by two commons and West Common is conveniently close for those who like to jog or walk. Nearby riding stables also make use of this area and there are riverside pubs and restaurants nearby which are popular with people who have walked, cycled, ridden or arrived by boat.

Highlight of the year is the Christmas market in December but the calendar is well packed with festivals, farmers' markets (again within walking distance), large scale events on the Showground such as the June Lincolnshire Show which showcases all the county has to offer, steam fairs, concerts and graduation ceremonies.

Reviewed 7 Feb 2016

This well equipped comfortable house just a short walk from the center of the city also has the benefit of a parking place, and sheltered patio garden. the area has a good selection of eating options from a AA two rosette restaurant to the local cafe, don"t miss out on the Burton Road chippy sit in or take out and well deserving of the title "best Fish and chip shop in England

“Perfect for a family Christmas!”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2015

24 Burton Road was the perfect house for a family Christmas, it was a real home from home and had absolutely everything we needed. Lovely open plan layout downstairs with big spacious rooms, deceiving from the front view of the house. Warm, cosy and comfortable. The kitchen was incredibly well-equipt, there was nothing we couldn't find and the cupboards even had a variety of everyday food items in them which we used and replaced. The beds were really comfortable and lovely big bathroom. Brilliant location close to the uphill tourist area of the city, literally no more than a 10 minute walk to the cathedral and castle, and good local pubs and restaurants on the doorstep. Tessa, the owner could not have been more helpful. I'm sure we'll be back!

“Perfect!”

“Beautiful little house in Lincoln”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2015

The house is beautifully decorated and presented and was spotlessly clean. It is situated just off the Bailgate in uphill Lincoln which is a lovely area; there are lots of lovely shops and restaurants just around the corner only a couple of minutes walk away. The host Tessa is lovely. She is very friendly and made the whole booking process so easy. I would definitely stay here again and was very sorry to leave!

“Excellent accomodation & Location”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2015

We have just arrived back from a lovely long weekend break in Lincoln. We stayed at 24 Burton Rd and what can I say , the ease of booking & the excellent location and and facilities all contributed to a wonderful break. 24 Burton street is a very spacious house very close to the centre of Lincoln ( easily within walking distance if you don't mind the long walk back up steep hill) The house was spotless and Tessa provided every home comfort you could think of and more . A lovely little sun trap patio area at the bag - very nice to enjoy a cool glass of wine . Parking space was also a big bonus. It was great to come back and relax after a long day exploring Lincoln. Would recommend the Wig and Mitre for an excellent evening meal , situated at the top of steep Hill.

“We will stay at this lovely home again.”

Reviewed 9 Jun 2014

Everything about our stay at 24 Burton Road was wonderful. Tessa made the booking process painless and was always quick to respond to emails. The home is perfectly situated, just far enough from the busy Bailgate area to offer some peace and the parking spot was a godsend though we rarely had to take the car out as there was so much within an easy walk. The home is open and airy with enough space to host our family for dinner some nights. We especially loved the beautiful private garden. The house was outfitted with everything you could need. We really felt at home there and would definitely stay again when we are in Lincoln.

“The luxury of a hotel with the comforts of your own home”

Reviewed 13 May 2014

This is a lovely house with two double bedrooms (one smallish, the other good size with dressing room). It is beautifully clean and well presented. The bathroom is large and the ground floor is a Tardis! There is everything you could possibly need during your stay provided. Location for the upper (Bailgate) area of town is superb and there is off street, secure parking to the rear of the premises. The garden is a beautiful suntrap. The owner could not have been more helpful, even making the shed available for our bicycles. We would like to return next year.

“Incredible House, Incredible Location, Incredible Service”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2014

Knowing Lincoln quite well I expected a small house for the location. Well the house is quite the tardis. It's got loads of room, including an absolutely fantastic kitchen. It is in a fantastic location, the bailgate area of Lincoln is absolutely beautiful, and there is no shortage of amenities. Communication from the owner was fantastic and they went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience for our christmas stay, including having a tree waiting for us when we arrived. I really couldn't recommend this property enough, we didn't want to leave.

“Lingering Memories of Lincoln”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2013

This mid-terrace property is ideally located for exploring Lincoln City Centre. A 10 minute stroll sees you at the top of Steep Hill (voted Britain's Best Street 2012) with all its delightful individual shops/eating/drinking establishments. The property itself is extremely welcoming and a real "home from home"! It's very well equipped (particularly the kitchen) and, if you're lucky enough to enjoy decent weather (as we did), the courtyard garden is quite charming and ideal for relaxing with a pot of tea and a slice of lemon-drizzle cake in the sunshine! Bedroom 2 is a bit cramped with limited facilities to accommodate your stuff but, having said that, has a very comfortable bed and is very quiet indeed!! There are two very comfortable sitting-rooms with some nice touches and free wi-fi. Tessa Smith (the owner) was very helpful and professional in catering for all our needs, as well as responding promptly to all our communications. Many thanks from Graham and Jules Wright in Suffolk.
