Description

This property is sutuated in the centre of Limoux town, near to all amenities and the central square with its many cultural activities. The annual Carnival is the longest running carnival in the world! It runs from January through to the end of March, culminating on the second Sunday before Easter when His Majesty King Carnival is burnt at the stake.

Limoux is known as the Gateway to the Upper Aude Valley. From here you can access all of the local cultural and historic landmarks and beauty spots, including Cathar Castles, lakes and mountains. Rennes-le-Château with its templar mysteries is close by.

The landscape is perfect for those who seek adventure and sport - we have white water rafting, caving and climbing - as well as for those who are looking for something more sedate - hot springs, wine tasting and gourmet restaurants with local specialities such as cassoulet and blanquette. Transport to and from airports is reasonable - buses and trains arrive daily to and from Carcassonne, near the airport - whilst Carcassonne airport itself is only a 30 minute drive away.
Free Parking is available 2 minutes from the property. Specific information regarding this and all amenities is available at the property or upon request from the owner.

We live close locally and so are available for Welcome and Departure as well as to provide additional support and information, but otherwise we expect to leave our guests to themselves.

Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

Hot in summer and snowy in winter, the Aude Valley has a climate for every holiday! Mountains, rivers and lakes offer excitement for the adventure seeker, sports for the active and sunny beaches for those who just want to saok up some rays.

We have castles galore - some even host medieval tournaments - and history ancient and modern.

And of course - food and wine for you gourmets.

Limoux

Local festivals include:

Limoux Carnival - the longest running in the world, from January through to the end of March.

Toques et Clochers - the celebration of the local sparkling wines, around March each year.

Artistes à Suivre - artists local and international exhibit their work in galleries all round the area, with many a musical and cultural event alongside. Around May each year.

Weekly village market in Limoux on Friday and various days in local villages around - one of the biggest is at Espéraza on Sunday mornings.
