This legacy is shown in everything from the local language to the glorious architecture and the splendid natural landscape which surrounds the entire area. Beyond the port to the north there are beautiful beaches of San Giovanni and Maria Pia .A strenuous walk will bring visitors to the beaches from the city centre In the are there are many interesting examples of archaeology linked to Sardinia's rich past.
