Location description from owner
The Rhône-Alpes region
In 2004, the major ski areas of Les Arcs and La Plagne were linked by the Vanoise Express, a modern cable car on 2 floors carrying 400 people, creating a new combined area called 'Paradiski', linking the whole network in just 4 minutes, which is now one of the largest ski areas in the world. There is an extensive range of skiing and snowboarding for all abilities, and this area links some of the finest sure-snow resorts in Europe.
Les Coches is right at the heart of the huge Paradiski area (Les Arcs and La Plagne) with 425 km of alpine slopes, 175 ski lifts and skiing up to 3250m on the glacier. The vanoise express, over to Les Arc, leaves from Les coches and ski runs are kept open until the end of the season in mid april. Snowboarders will enjoy the snow-park at Arc 1800, the floodlit half-pipe at Arc 2000, as well as the snow-park at La Plagne. In addition, Val d'Isere/Tignes is 50 min away, the 3 Valleys are 45 min and St Foy (more off piste) is within 30 mins. The ski area is open from mid December to mid April. . Ski school operates within the village, evolution 2 and the french ski school, ESF, are both recommended and there is a children's club which caters for babies (6months) - up to teenagers. Apres ski activities include restaurants, ice rink and games room, all in the village. There are plenty of entertainments in the village square for all ages often with food tasting competitions, free fondues, puppet shows and chocolate egg hunts. there is also a cinema in Montchavin (3km)Just 3km down the road lies Montchavin, a traditional alpine village, offering a mixture of restaurants and apartments, set amidst local houses and hay barns. It is easy to reach Montchavin, either on skis, in the telecabine (summer and winter) or via the ski bus. Montchavin makes a lovely stop for lunch in the middle of a day's skiing. Down in the valley, the nearest town is Bourg St Maurice, 17km away, offering a greater selection of shops and supermarkets.

“Amazing alpine summer holiday!”
We had a wonderful summer holiday at Les Coches, the scenery was stunning and there were great walks, swimming and rides on chair lifts. Mark and Kate gave us loads of great suggestions of things to do in the area, many of which we tried out, including the little local circus, swimming in the lake in the valley and the Vanoise express. The shops and chair lifts were only a short walk away. The apartment was perfect for our family of 6, with plenty of space, and the kids loved the playstation in the mornings and evenings! It was quite quiet at Vue des Montagnes in the summer season and the place felt a little empty but at least it meant we could make as much noise as we wanted! We'd definitely recommend.
“Excellent Apartment in Ski Paradise!”
We have had a great week at Vue des Montagnes. Apart from the perfect weather conditions (blue skies all week) and the magnificient snow everybody in our group was so impressed with this great apartment. The view is absolutely fantastic and it took my breath away every morning. At night we lit the candles, had drinks and snacks at the huge dining table and since we love cooking, we were so happy with the very well-fitted kitchen. We were also really impressed with the short walking distance to the lifts which give acces to the whole Paradiski area. Thanks again and hopefully we will be able to return next year!
“Fantastic trip - Something for everyone.”
To start with Mark and Kate who own the property were incredibly helpful via email in answering questions promptly and accurately. We arrived by train quite early and left quite late outside of the times we had access to the property. The reception area had all sorts of things to keep us amused including a pool table and a roaring fire. (there were also showers available) The Property itself was incredibly clean and well presented. To be honest the pictures didn't do it justice. Since we arrived so early we took to the beginner slopes (the lift is free but a fair trek, maybe 20 minute walk in boots) . We had 4 days of perfect sunshine and 2 really big dumps of snow. Our group was very mixed in terms of skiing ability. Luckily there are a number of ski pass options. I opted for the paradiski discovery pass which is the second most expensive pass, it gives you 6 full days skiing and as part of that 1 day can be in Les Arc. Others in our group went for the 6 day Les Coches village pass - considerably cheaper and perfect for beginners. Les Coches is quaint and definitely geared towards families. The best part of the holiday was our daily visit to the spar. After a long day skiing there is nothing like taking to a steam room or Jacuzzi for half an hour. (There was a small extra cost for this - about 40 euros for the weak) The pool was clean, close and free. Overall I have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone. This is perfect for 8 people.
So glad you all had a good time, what a shame you had to pay extra for the spa facility, you shouldn't have had to at all as we are owners, and that is all included in the price you pay to us. The reception at Chalet des Wengen can get confused about this. Kate
