Brekka Lodge is a beautifully designed, immaculately maintained, modern, high quality, fully equipped, 4 star self catering accommodation in Shetland.

Ideal for a self catering holiday, business trip or short break in Shetland. Built in 2009 the property was designed, and furnished, to the highest standards for the primary purpose of providing a luxurious holiday home in the Shetland Islands that guests would enjoy and recommend.

Brekka Lodge is perfectly located for seeing what Shetland has to offer in terms of bird life, wildlife, sea mammals, archaeology, hill-walking, spectacular sea cliffs, scenic views, wild flowers, arts and crafts or for simply exploring Shetland.

Very Good

“A wonderful beautiful surroundings....”

Anne, our 4 Children (aged 3 to 14) and I stayed from 26th March for 7 days, we only wish it could have been longer. First the accommodation, well what can we say other than a perfectly appointed property...immaculate and tastefully furnished. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Beautiful views across to the sea and a very safe space for young children. Plenty of room for 6 people to chill out after a day of walking or sight seeing. The Kitchen is really well equipped and I'm someone who is very picky over kitchen kit, this place has all you need to make your hearty supper after a busy day. Brekka, is one of the best appointed properties that we have stayed in in the last 15 years or so. Lovely bedrooms, a very modern and well equipped bathroom (bath and shower). The property is spotless. Various DVDs to watch if you have the time, but who needs DVDs when you can look out of the window at wildlife and the sea...We only usually book 5 star accommodation and this place lived up to that. A lot of effort has been made to make Brekka a lovely "home from home". The owners, Sheila and George who live next door are the perfect hosts.They take great pride, (rightly so) in their accommodation and have put a really helpful pack together to help you get the most from your stay. Lots of books also on Shetland to peruse. A welcome pack to kick off your breakfast. Sheila popped in with some delicious jam shortbread in the week, it was consumed by our "gannets" within minutes! ...We had no issues or problems at all in our stay, but I'm sure if anything went wrong in the property Sheila and George would sort it all out with no fuss. They are the perfect hosts and are 100% committed to make sure you have a lovely stay at their property. 10/10. was our first will not be our last. We fell in love with the place. Really friendly people. The scenery is just awesome. Wildlife around every corner. We saw Killer Whales in Unst and seals popped up all over, much to all of our enjoyment. The property is well placed to see all of the South mainland really easily and there much to see. If you love Archeology, Jarlshof is a must see. St Ninians Isleis just beautiful. We went all the way to Muckle Flugga on Unst, taking in 2 Islands and 2 Ferries and we did it in 2 hours...well worth the trip...the views on Unst are mind-blowing. The ferries run like clockwork. The scenery is stunning...Shetland is just a wonderful place. I've been lucky to travel to many continents and countries across the globe, Shetland is out on its own....nowhere I've seen in the East, Middle East and West can give you so much variety in matter of a few miles. The people we met where very friendly and helpful....smiles and waves are the norm here. What a refreshing change! So Brekka....a perfect rental property in a beautiful location, ran by 2 lovely and dedicated people....If you plan on going to Shetland (and we would strongly recommend a visit), then I would be surprised if you would find anything that tops Brekka for a place to stay. Great location, accommodation and has it all. When we return to Shetland next year, we will stay at Brekka for sure.

“Comfortable and convenient”

We stayed at Brekka Lodge because we wanted to combine visiting family members in the South Mainland (mainly) and Unst with being in range of some of Shetland's visitor attractions. We found the accommodation totally to our satisfaction and the location was just right. It's always a blessing when you come to Shetland to be in sight of the sea and Brekka gives you that in spades. The owners were flexible to our travel needs (we had to take up the accommodation at non-standard times) and this made our stay more memorable. Thank you!

“An excellent place to stay”

The property was in excellent condition, modern through out. Shelia and George we the best hosts one could wish for,always on hand to iron out any problems. Apart from the weather, which could have been better,the Shetland Islands lived up to expectations. We were sad when it was time to take our leave of this wonderful place. How did the lambing go George?

The Brekka Lodge is so wonderful in every way. Firstly, Sheila is extremely kind and helped us very much from the day we arrived. Secondly, it is a beautiful and immaculate lodge, equipped with everything one may need. It felt like our own home, even nicer :-) We enjoyed our stay so much and will definitely come back. The surrounding is so beautiful, giving lovely views from the large windows in the living room. We walked around each afternoon, met two seals at the beach by the lodge, and enjoyed various beautiful landscapes. Last but not least, we very much appreciated the welcome package (the chocolate cakes are to die for).

We had a really lovely week at Brekka Lodge. The house itself was very comfortable, warm and well equipped. Spotted a pod of Minkie whales heading south down along the coast from the living room! (Well, ok … with binoculars!) Would recommend Brekka to anyone looking for self-catering in Shetland.

Brekka lodge has everything you would find at home, and more. The kitchen was extremely well kitted out, everywhere was impressively clean and tidy, and the sight of oyster-catchers feeding on the lawn outside the window (plus you own 'personal' beach) made the location perfect for us.

We heartily recommend Brekka Lodge. We have very high standards of cleanliness and organisation in rented properties, and being light sleepers we cannot tolerate noise and traffic, so this was ideal for us.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
