The Edinburgh region

Edinburgh is a city steeped in history and its stunning rich architectural heritage is now recognised as a World Heritage Site.

With over 4,500 listed buildings, Edinburgh is world-renowned for its rich architectural heritage. The two main areas of particular interest in this historic city are the Old Town, which includes the medieval fortress of Edinburgh Castle, and the neoclassical New Town which dates back to the 18th century. The juxtaposition of medieval architecture with neoclassical terraces gives Edinburgh its own unique character.

Together, the Old and New Towns were listed as a World Heritage Site in 1995, a status which will conserve Edinburgh's magnificent architecture for future generations to enjoy. Following this, the Edinburgh World Heritage was created in 1999 and is funded by Historic Scotland and the City of Edinburgh Council. The charity aims, amongst other things, to monitor the site's state of conservation and fund conservation projects.

The Old Town features the tourist hub of the Royal Mile, a long street exactly one Scots mile long, featuring a medieval castle, narrow closes, Reformation buildings, kirks, turrets and plenty of nooks and crannies. Head over to the New Town and you will find the grand Georgian Terraces, more suited to the figures of the Scottish Enlightenment who wished to escape the over-crowded Old Town.

This apartment was so lovely to stay in. It is very modern and was the perfect place to be for the hen weekend we were in Edinburgh for!! Would highly recommend it to anyone :)

“Loved this quirky apartment”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2014

Angie was there to greet us. Not in the heart of Edinburgh but we had a car and a carpark available so not a problem. It was great to cook in, and have room to move. Had a small view of the water and loved this quirky apratment. Enjoyed our stay in Edinburgh and wish we could have stayed longer.

“Excellent accommodation in Edinburgh”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2014

Stayed in the apartment for the commonwealth games, clean and comfortable set in a picturesque location. Easy bus ride from central Edinburgh, many shops and restaurants within walking distance.

“Quirky and quiet accommodation by the sea”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2014

We had a lovely three nights at this apartment by the sea, about 15 minutes from the centre of town by car. Angie, the lady who greeted us, was very pleasant and welcoming. The apartment itself was homely, brimming with interesting books, films and teabags. A very quirky and interesting place to stay, would definitely recommend.

“Really good stay!”

It's a nice flat! We stayed there for several nights and we enjoyed it! 15 Minutes away from the city, bus nr. 10 is close.

“A great flat 10 mins from the city”

Reviewed 4 Jun 2014

This was a great flat with a convenient location only being a short bus ride from the city centre. The flat provided a comfortable and relaxing stay. There were views of the Firth of Forth as well as all mod cons. A great place from which to explore the city and beyond. Would definitely try and book it again, great value for money.
