The Scotland region

Edinburgh, the Capital city is a vibrant and exciting destination for a city break at any time of year. Offering a fantastic mix of stunning architecture, history, culture, as well as fabulous shopping, restaurants, pubs, bars, cafes and nightlife. Visit the spectacular Edinburgh Castle, the National and Modern Art Galleries, or simply lose yourself wandering around the fascinating cobbled streets of the Old Town steeped in history, dropping into local pubs, independent boutiques and antique shops along the way. Take in the architecture of the Georgian New Town or relax with a picnic in the beautiful Botanic Gardens. Visit Holyrood Palace then cross the road to tour the stunning new Parliament. Or simply enjoy shopping in Harvey Nichols, the designer shops of George Street or Jenners - the worlds oldest independent department store. Edinburgh is equally lively when the sun goes down with great nightlife and stylish bars, cafes and many restaurants. There are many interesting walks within the city such as climbing Salisbury Crags or Arthers Seat, our very own extinct volcano. Also highly recommended is a stroll along the water of Leith, through the historic Dean Village and ending at the Gallery of Modern Art cafe, serving fantastic food in a idyllic walled garden.

Leith

Leith Walk is a thriving and vibrant area of Edinburgh connecting Princes Street with the historic port of Leith. It is a mixed and colourful community with many interesting restaurants and pubs, old and new to choose from as well as festival venues. At the top of the walk we have the Playhouse theatre & Omni Centre which holds numerous restaurants and bars, nightclubs and also a cinema. In the opposite direction down the walk you'll reach the stylish Leith Shore with a fantastic selection of cosy bars and excellent restaurants along the waterfront. Further on from the shore lies the Ocean Terminal with a large shopping centre, more cafes and bars and also where the Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed. Buses run frequently throughout the day and night connecting Leith with the centre of town.

“Great appartment / Great location”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2014

I had traveled up to Edinburgh, as my Girlfriend & I always do, due to Edinburgh simply being a stunning city. After looking at a few B&B's (very expensive) we realised that in reality for the price of a B&B room we could actually rent an apartment. After looking online we came across this apartment and loved every aspect of the place. The location is in the heart of Leith which, if culture is your thing, is a perfect tourist spot. The apartment itself is spacious with 2 bedrooms and a large living area (especially for only 2 of us staying). Mairi & Cathy who own the place are lovely people, no problem too big for them to solve. There was an issue with the gas on one of the days there (which can happen in any property) but both Mairi & Cath made sure that it was fixed by the end of the day, even buying us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience. The bathroom is rather small but makes use of the space that's there with a nice shower, and really it was never an issue for us both. All in all I would 100% stay here again, lovely owners, great location and all in all, good value for money!

“lovely”

Reviewed 26 May 2014

great little flat, near enough to walk into the centre without needing public transport. Nice bright and airy place with everything you need for a long weekend away. Lovely thoughtful touches like flowers and a few essentials on arrivals (teabags etc!). Owner very friendly and happy to help.
