The Scotland region

The region around Edinburgh offers wonderful coastline to the east, which is easily accessible by car or public transport. Over the dramatic bridges across the Firth of Forth, historic fishing villages and scenic coastline lead all the way up to St Andrews, the home of golf.
To the north west, about an hour's drive takes you to some of the most beautiful loch and mountain scenery in Scotland, the Trossachs, which have inspired writers and poets since the 18th century.

Central Scotland/Strathclyde

Edinburgh is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the world's first UNESCO City of Literature.

Attracting over 1 million overseas visitors a year, Edinburgh is the second most visited tourist destination in the United Kingdom after London. The city was voted 'European Destination of the Year' at the World Travel Awards 2012.

The city hosts several annual festivals including the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe and the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Other annual events include the Hogmanay Street Party and the Beltane Fire Festival.
