Despite all the available water sports, the Kaag exudes tranquillity and offers stunning views over the water. Its meadows invite you for a walk where you can sit on the terraces at the water. Amsterdam is one of the greatest small cities in the world. From its canals to world-famous museums and historical sites, Amsterdam is one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe.
Amsterdam is also a city of tolerance and diversity. It has all the advantages of a big city: culture, nightlife, international restaurants, good transportation - but is quiet, and largely thanks to its extensive canals, has a little road traffic. In Amsterdam your destination is never far away.
What makes Amsterdam so attractive is the combination of the 17th-century historical atmosphere and mentality of a modern metropolis. The small buildings and the intimacy of streets, canals and squares create a unique atmosphere for visitors.
The city has the highest density of museums in the world and recognizes cultural highlights like the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House and the Rijksmuseum, where Rembrandt's famous work “The Night Watch” can be seen. View Amsterdam's attractions: go an afternoon at the Artis Zoo or book a cruise through its canals. The best way to discover Amsterdam is by bike. Cycle through the city as if you were a resident of the city.
The Hague is one of the most beautiful cities of the Netherlands. Not only because our government is established here, but also due to the many monuments, historic neighbourhoods and proximity to the coast. The Hague is also known as "the city of peace and justice” and is called the royal city, since many members of the royal family, live in the upscale neighbourhoods of The Hague.
On the Square and in the Market are plenty of cosy restaurants, where it is buzzing every day of the week. The shops are just as varied as the city itself, you will find everything from luxury department stores and world famous brands to lively streets full of boutiques and trinket shops. In addition, The Hague offers art and culture of world level.
Finally, The Hague proves that a modern skyline and a historic downtown can go well together. Inspired by the famous Flat Iron Building in New York, The Hague Tower hosts many one-of-a-kind and diverse attractions. From the upper floors you can enjoy breathtaking views: the skyline of The Hague, the coastline to the “Hook of Holland” and the centres of Rotterdam and Leiden.
An indulgence is the beach of Scheveningen, the most famous seaside resort on the Dutch coast, where you can sunbathe in the summer and in the winter you will be surrounded by a breath of fresh air. With attractions like Madurodam and Omniversum, The Hague is also a joy for young audiences.
The Dutch lake district, located in" the Green Heart" of Holland, has a special landscape with many lakes, ponds, streams and ditches. In this area there are also many opportunities for water sports, such as a trip by boat or canoe.
Beautiful day trips by boat can also be made through the canals of Leiden (1hr on boating) and you can even cruise through the world famous canals of Amsterdam (in 3 hours boat ride away)

"Come for the View, Stay for the Tranquility"
We enjoyed a long weekend at the WaterNest in late April and wished we could have stayed longer. With a beautiful view of the Dutch countryside (Windmills included) we found it a tranquil refuge great for relaxation. The main house has a great glass front with a comfortable living area and full kitchen. As people who like to cook, we found the kitchen easy to use with the things necessary to cook a full meal. The master bedroom is spacious with a nice bathroom – just be prepared for a soft mattress. The “Cage”, the smaller house off to the side, would have been ideal for either another couple and/or children who can sleep on their own. With one large bed (big enough for two adults) and a bunk bed (for children) it would sleep 3 to 4 comfortably. Note that the toilet and the bunk beds are in the same room, so when planning for larger groups keep this in mind. The outside gazebo was also nice and in good condition. As it was rather cool in the evenings while we were there, we didn’t have the opportunity to use the gazebo or the yard as we would have liked. The owners were also easy to reach, helpful and very pleasant. Their English is great and they were full of tips on how to enjoy our weekend there. In short, if you are looking for a quite place that is close to Amsterdam and the Hague where you can feel at home in stead of going to a hotel, then this would be the place. You just need a car! Thanks R&M for a great stay!
Thank you guys for your lovely review, you have been the perfect guests and we hope to see you back in the near future! Lovely you enjoyed the old Dutch countryside and the tranquility.
