L'Hirondelle is part of Gites de La Richardiere a renovated set of farm buildings which are set on a wide hilltop with extensive views over the glorious, rolling countryside so typical of this area. The wide lawns and mature trees make this both a family friendly and yet delightfully romantic location.

On the ground floor is a well-equipped kitchen diner which seats up to six people.

*Equipment includes full oven and hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.

*There is a comfortable lounge with English and French TV.

*A wooden staircase in the dining room leads up to the large landing on the first floor.


*The first of the two bedrooms is a spacious double bedroom with a pretty window looking out onto the courtyard.

*The second is a well-sized twin bedroom.

*The shower room is light and modern and also accessed from the landing.

At Gites de La Richardiere there are 3 cottages for self-catering rental. L'Hirondelle (4/5 persons); Le Martinet (4 persons); Le Pigeonnier (2 persons)

- A large secluded and heated swimming pool set in a lawned garden with sun loungers and parasols.

- Plenty of space to seek peace and tranquillity or have fun and games with friends and family.

- Garden tables, chairs and barbecue for alfresco dining.

Getting around

We are in the "middle of nowhere" yet in the middle of everything. The Loire is just one hour to the north giving access to all those lovely Chateaux, and there are plenty of small, historic towns within easy reach 20-30 mins. Locally, there is a market almost every day and many attractions for families and individuals. The roads are quiet, so driving, cycling or walking are all a great pleasure. There is a Bus service which runs from Grand Pressigny to Tours.

Interaction with guest

We live on-site at Gites de La Richardière and so we can be on hand to organise Wine-Tastings, and advise about places to visit and things to do. On the other hand, we can blend in and be inconspicuous if guests prefer. We're always ready to listen to your needs and thoughts.

We had a wonderful two week family holiday. Dave and Patience were outstanding hosts providing helpful first hand information on the local area. The area was wonderfully quiet, just what we all wanted, but there was plenty to do from cycling to badminton to visiting local restaurants for gorgeous food and live music. The gite was perfect; spacious, clean and well equipped. For a family who don't visit the same place twice, on the drive home we were all agreed that we are in a real dilemma about where we should go next, it was that good! Thank you Dave and Patience for a great holiday; we'll be's just a matter of when!

My family and I enjoyed a truly wonderful 10 day break at La Richardière. The area is beautiful and peaceful with tranquil countryside all around and pretty local villages. The locals were very welcoming and included our children in the Easter egg hunt, there seems to be a lot of local fun to take part in. We had fantastic day trips to Loches for the Pirate weekend and the weekly market, I particularly enjoyed the acoustic a Capella singing in the old church at the top of the hill in the medieval town area in Loches. The zoo parc Beauval was a delight, especially the pandas! The children particularly enjoyed that trip. The gite itself was attractively and sympathically renovated, the interior was cool and comfortable in the unexpected April heat, a wood burning stove was a lovely addition. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. We had everything we needed for an extremely relaxing, happy holiday! The children loved having bikes to use and vast open spaces to play in. Finally, a word has to be said about the hosts, although new to La Richardière, The Brown family were extreemly welcoming and attentive and very knowledgeable about the local area, where to go, what to do, what was on. I really wanted to stay for the moules and frite evening at the restaurant in Grand Pressigny and the Irish bands with fish and chips in July sounds like a great night out! This is one of the best holidays we have had, we can't wait to visit again!
