La Maison Tournesol is situated just south of Sillé-le-Guillaume, where there are bars, restaurants, shops and weekly markets. Surrounded by farms, it is quiet and peaceful, yet has easy access to all amenities. Le Mans, is a 20 minute drive, Mont Saint Michel is 2½ hours drive and Paris is 1 hour 40 minutes train ride away.

Only 5 minutes away is Sillé plage (beach), which includes swimming, boating, fishing, horse-riding to name but a few. Take-away or sit-down meals are available from the local restaurants.

The main house provides for guests a double and twin bedroom so is ideal for families, with a terrace area to enjoy eating breakfast outdoors and the children can play in the spacious garden area with swimming pool. It is ideally situated to travel and see the sights, while providing plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay.

Free Wi-fi, English TV and a selection of DVDs also available.

All bed linen and towels are provided as is a continental breakfast.

There are no facilities for lunchtime meals however an evening meal can be purchased. Tea and coffee facilities are available all day in the dining room. There are local restaurants and bars that provide meals and snacks.

There is a train station at Sillé le Guillaume with trains to Le Mans (and beyond) where there are trams and buses available to explore the city.

Price shown is for 2 people sharing a room. Pleas enquire for price of booking for 1 person only. Guests have their own access to the house and garden. Janet is English and Didier is French. We are both available at most times. We love to talk to visitors that stay with us, but also respect their privacy if required. The owners use the main entrance and their living area is separate to the guests. However, they will be on hand should they be needed. Their dogs do not use the garden when there are guests, as there is plenty of land for them to run elsewhere.

Janet welcomed us on our arrival and the gite was well equipped and we were grateful for the welcoming pack. The Gite was clean, comfortable and well presented. The grounds were perfect for our two children. Janet was on hand if we needed anything and was able to advise us about the locality whilst we were there. We had a great week and would definately visit Janet and her lovely home again. Thanks.

The Gite is very comfortable with everything you need. Its a great base to explore the many attractions in the area. We loved the roads as they were so straight and quiet. There was plenty of space with grass outside so the children could play badminton, etc There was a lake with a beach (sand) nearby - with several restaurants there. We visited Papea park (theme park), Margots Cave and Canyon, the Tank museum and spent a day on the beach by the lake. Getting around is easy, a supermarket is 5 mins down the road in the car. All in all we had a great time.

How do damage deposits work?

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Janet (the owner) a message.

If Janet (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
