"Disappointing, dusty and damp"

Myself, my wife, our baby girl and my parents booked this house for a week in July of this year, our first holiday with our daughter. We booked chiefly because the owner offered the flexibility of midweek changeover which we needed. The photos made the property look nice and we wanted to stay somewhere we could drive to from London in a day, so we booked it. First the positives. The house is spacious, the main living area is nicely decorated and comfortable, and the barbecue/ outside eating area is very nice. However, when we arrived we found that of the three bedrooms, two had serious damp in the corners. We did not want our baby (5 month old) daughter to sleep in a damp room, so our plan to have one bedroom for my parents, one for her and one for us had to be changed. My parents (both 60+) had to have one of the damp rooms and our daughter slept with us. Things got worse though. One night there was a storm and the floor of the room that my parents were sleeping in was covered in water. The chimney had leaked and the room was now damper than ever. On speaking to the representative on site (NOT THE OWNER) we were told 'well it happens with these old properties', which did not really help. In addition, the swimming pool which looks quite a reasonable size in the picture is actually tiny (2 strokes in length); the games room also houses a range of disused white goods, a large lawnmower, an old bar and has more the air of a derelict barn than a games room; and all of the kitchen utensils needed washing before they were used as everything had a film of grease and dust on it. So, all told, the property is fine, if your expectations are not too high. Unfortunately for the price charged, it is not good value for money. NB This has only been posted now as I have waited for a response from the property owner, to whom I have written twice with my issues and who has not responded.

"Fantastic, beautiful, tranquil farmhouse."

Don't really want to say how wonderful this place is as it really is a hidden gem. Pool is wonderful and couldn't move my two boys away....or myself for that matter! Games room kept them entertained post BBQ and pre bed. Everything you would need is in the house which is beautifully restored. As it is a stone farmhouse it manages to stay cool even in the hot weather. Will definitely be back as we all had an amazing time.

"Beautiful and peaceful"

The farmhouse has been beautifully restored with spacious rooms and great facilities - bathrooms and kitchen. Good quality furnishings. Attractive setting. Helpful owner. And our dog loved the place!
