The Basse-Normandie region
It is a peninsula the part of Manche where we are, with a coastal area on both the east and west, long golden beaches and picturesque seaside resorts are there to be enjoyed. You can choose which side you spend your day.
The inland is a protected wild life area with some marches and water ways.
The island of Jersey can be seen off the west coast and is a popular day out destination, boats sail from the ports of St Malo or Granville, famous for Tom Barnabys visits during his time as a Jersey detective on t v.
Monday is market day at Carentan and Torigni- s-Vire
Le Hommet d Arthenay
This region is agricultural with small lanes and pretty, sleepy villages, at Pont Herbert, there are lovely riverside walks along the banks of the river Vire also accessible to cyclists.
At nearby Graignes there is a horse racing circuit and jockey college. Saturday evening racing is very popular.
St Lo has many shops , pavement cafes and restaurants, massive castle walls overlook the river Vire, inside the walls is a quite part of the town.
