Enfialère is a 200 year old renovated stone cottage, for up to 6 people, facing south with glorious views overlooking the River Lot. The picturesque village of Le Fel is about 1 mile up the hill with 2 good restaurants and tennis courts. Entraygues is 5 miles along the river. Every room in the cottage has wonderful views both of the river and the glorious woodlands on the valley slopes. The private swimming pool is in a sheltered, sunny position with good seclusion for sun bathing. Although not adapted for handicapped people, the house would be suitable for people with reduced mobility.

The driveway to the cottage leads straight to the front door, making for easy access. The entrance doorway opens onto the sitting room that has an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, two sofas, UK TV, DVD and CD players. From here, French windows lead out to the veranda with dining table and chairs for outdoor eating and stunning views over the river and surrounding valley below.

From the sitting room an archway leads through to an open plan dining room and fitted kitchen. There is a good size downstairs bedroom which has twin beds and a ground floor shower room with WC and washing machine. Stairs from the sitting room lead to 2 large bedrooms, both with Velux windows overlooking the river and surrounding hills. Upstairs is a WC and hand basin.

All utilities, end of stay cleaning, bed linen, towels and pool towels are included in the price.

The garden has a grassed walkway leading down to the fenced 8 x 4m oval private pool surrounded by a paved terrace with a shaded pergola and sun loungers. A covered area at the front of the house provides additional shade on hot evenings.

There is ample parking for 2 cars.

The picturesque village of Le Fel with its two good restaurants is a short drive away, or a 20 minute walk through the steep vineyard terraces. Montsalvy and Entraygues are both 9 kilometers away. In both villages there are banks, shops, bakers, bars and restaurants plus weekly markets, where good, reasonably priced local produce can be found. The large towns of Aurillac and Rodez are about an hour’s drive and both offer extensive shopping, culture, restaurants and activities to suit all tastes.

The Midi-Pyrénées region

The Cantal region descends from the breathtaking volcanic mountains in the north down through gorges and river valleys. Steeped in historical interest it has an abundance of ancient sites, monuments, castles, towns and beautiful villages. It is an unspoilt region where visitors can enjoy rural life with clean air and glorious countryside yet still find plenty of activities to interest everyone of any age. The local people are friendly and take great pride in their region's heritage and are always keen to introduce visitors to their treasures whether food, drink, their way of life or the countryside.Most of our properties are located around the medieval village of Entraygues sur Truyère nestling in the heart of the picturesque Vallée du Lot on the border of the Cantal and Aveyron. Entraygues is in the north of the department (or county) known as the Aveyron, which is one of eight in the Midi-Pyrenees. It is here where the river Truyère tumbles out of the Auvergne and joins the river Lot.

The region is geographically extreme and very beautiful with an abundance of views to take your breath away! The climate here means real seasons, being sheletered sheltered by the northern and easterly aspects of the Auvergne and Aubrac mountains, part of the Massid Central, we enjoy cold crisp snowy winters, stunning Springs, long hot summers (although due to the altitude night times are thankfully cool) and long spectaular warm autumns with day after day of blue skies.

Le Fel

At the centre of our region is Entraygues-sur-Truyère at the confluence of the Lot and Truyère rivers, which was founded in the 10th century and by the middle ages had become an important town and bustling river port shipping local produce (notably wine, cheese and wood) to Bordeaux and from there to the rest of France and beyond. The name comes from the old language of the region Occitan, which is still taught in schools and translates to “entre les eaux” meaning between the waters. Once fortified, traces of the old town walls and 2 out of 213 towers from the old castle can still be seen. Today it remains beautifully preserved with narrow cobbled streets, timbered and corbelled houses and its 2 gothic XIIIth century bridges. The Truyère bridge was a key river crossing for pilgrims on the “route de St. Jaques de Compostella” (St .James’s way) down to Santiago in Spain. Pilgrims can still be see throughout the region following the well trodden path to Galicia today

As well as exploring the town’s history, visitors will find a full range of shops, restaurants and services for practical and enjoyable purposes. There are weekly markets and even night markets in the summer selling local produce.

Whether you like walking, driving around to explore medieval villages, more strenuous activity such as canoeing or horse riding, sampling the delights of the regional cuisine there is something for everyone. All our houses have information on what to do.With the nearest Autoroute 60 miles away and the nearest railway line 30 miles little has changed over the years and the Lot Valley remains a haven of peace and tranquillity.
