Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

Lavenham

Much of Lavenham's mediaeval wealth was based on the wool trade. Many of the villages 200 or so listed buildings, including the church and the Guildhall (a National Trust property) date from this time. The village now has an excellent blend of beautiful historical buildings and facilities for visitors. There are excellent pubs, restaurants and antique shops, as well as shops to meet most requirements. All of these are within 2 minutes walk of each cottage.Lavenham is well situated for exploring the Suffolk countryside including Constable Country, Bury St Edmunds, the Suffolk Coast, local National Trust properties and several beautiful gardens. Cambridge and Newmarket are less than an hours drive. It is well placed for visits throughout East Anglia

“Lovely hideaway”

Reviewed 13 Feb 2014

A lovely little hideaway in a beautiful village. Very cosy and romantic, would unreservedly recommend it for couples of all ages.

“Little gem in Lavenham”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2013

The Wool Cottage is a very clever and thoughtfully done conversion of a 15th C structure to a comfortable high standard 2-pax holiday retreat. It is an excellent base for your English summer (or indeed any other season), with several good restaurants in or near the village and not far from Cambridge. Though adjacent to (and a structural part of) the owners' listed House, the Cottage enjoys full privacy with a small sunny patio to itself. There is a welcome package, and Carol and Jim are very keen that you will be short of nothing.
