Location description from manager

The England region

An idyllic location for walkers and riders, this area of the south of England has some of the best weather in the country, on average getting more sunshine than anywhere else in the England. A short drive to the east is the historic city of Chichester, the skyline of which is dominated by it's famous and imposing cathedral.

The world renowned Chichester Festival Theatre attracts both actors and audiences from far and wide and the city centre itself offers a great selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. To the west, the city of Portsmouth offers wonderful attractions including the Historic Naval Dockyards and the impressive Spinnaker Tower. There is also very good shopping to be had at the Gunwharf Quays shopping and leisure development.

Other local places of interest include attractions such as the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Arundel Castle and the Roman Palace at nearby Fishbourne. West mount Farm is also very well located for both the horse racing and world famous motor racing event held at Goodwood, which include Glorious Goodwood, the Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival.

Lavant

For keen walkers there is plenty to do in and around West Lavant,a favourite local landmark is Seven Points, which is a very good vantage point from which there are panoramic views, this is accessed up Chalkpit Lane in Lavant village itself. An obvious attraction almost on your doorstep is The Goodwood Estate, with two golf courses, and the annual Festival of Speed, Glorious Goodwood horse racing and the Goodwood Revival. From Chichester there are links along the coast by bus and train to Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyards and Brighton, while London can be reached via the railway station at Chichester.

The beautiful and historic city of Chichester, with its world famous cathedral, is only just over four miles away. Along with a very varied shopping centre, and good parking facilities, it offers the renowned Festival Theatre with stars from all over the world appearing in productions all year round, a variety of restaurants, cinema and bowling complex and canal.

In addition to the beauitiful surrounding countryside, the area is blessed with some of the finest beaches in Southern England. The sandy beach at West Wittering attracts visitors all year round, but particularly in the summer months, and there are several famous sailing villages nearby, such as Bosham and Itchenor. Cowes Week is also an immensely popular event, and ferries from Portsmouth, approximately 15 miles away, can take you to the Isle of Wight. Other events and places to visit include the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum in Singleton, which is only a few miles away, polo at Cowdray in Midhurst (about 10 miles to the north), and the annual Arundel Festival.
