Description from owner

This traditional, organic farmhouse, built of stones around 1890, has recently been completely restored. It occupies a quiet, secluded and elevated coastal location over Collorus Harbour and Kenmare Bay.

The guests have a patio facing the sea, a flower and herb garden. It is friendly for toddlers. This is an organic farm where the owner grows flowers, herbs and vegetables and keeps hens. Smoking is allowed on the patio. All front windows have a sea and mountain view. You can enjoy the spectacular sea views while cooking, dining, sitting by the fire, in bed or even lying in the bath!

It is a perfect romantic retreat with ever changing sea and hill views.

The seashore and beach for safe swimming are 200 meters away.

The Beara Way runs parallel to the house.

Hilltop Cottage is located on the WILD ATLANTIC WAY.

Seaside, rural retreat. Ideal for nature lovers, ramblers and swimmers and the great outdoor.

“Stunning Views”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2017

A must see area of Ireland, it's natural beauty at its best. The Beara Peninsula is less commercial than the Ring of Kerry and with so many more scenic points. The road follows the shore to give you plenty of opportunity to get your camera out. The cottage was comfortable and clean and views were amazing. There was everything we needed and more in the cottage. Our host Colette is so friendly and welcoming and goes out her way for her guests. We arrived very late at night and she waiting up the road to guide us in at close to 1 am in the morning!

“marvellous scene, cosy house, what you see is what you get (and more)”

Beara Peninsula is a beautiful part of Ireland. The nature is of an astonishing beauty. Cosy villages, nice people. A stay in Hilltop cottage completes your Irish trip. The house is well situated in a quiet area, with a marvellous view over the sea. It's well equipped, which makes your stay even during rainy periods very comfortable. The owner makes your stay even more convenient.

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for your kind review. Pleasure to have you staying, sharing this beautiful part of the world and our heat wave! I do hope you will tell your friends too. See you next year?

“Best holiday for years...”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2013

Since coming home from this trip we have fully recommended the cottage to our friends. The owner - Colette - is extremely helpful and very friendly. The cottage is better than excellent, and yes we did have great weather but the one day of rain meant we sat indoors and read, with the fantastic views to look out at. The local walks are superb, local cafe is better than good!

Owner's reply: Very kind. Thank you very much. I am honoured it was your "best holiday for years" and I hope you will come again. Hilltop is just down the road from you! Is the rose growing?

“Peace and relaxation!!”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2013

Have just returned from a weeks holiday at Hilltop cottage and can highly recommend it as the place to stay for perfect peace and relaxation. Colette the lovely owner was at hand with home baked bread, marmalade and fresh eggs laid by her chickens. The cottage is well equipped and has a real homely feel with amazing views from every window (even when you take a bath!!) Kenmare is 30 minutes by car and has an abundance of shops, pubs and restaurants. There are plenty of walks nearby and a lovely local pub 5 minutes drive in Ardgroom. If you need a place to unwind, slow down or stop altogether then this is the perfect retreat, ENJOY!!

“Solitude guaranteed”

Don't expect to find Hilltop Cottage by SatNav. It won't. So carefully follow Colettes instructions. Once there, you will find that all the efforts of travelling (we came from Switzerland) were worth it. If you love tranquility, peace and overpoweringly wonderful sundowners, come here. Your batteries will be charged up again by the end of your stay, believe me. We loved everything, the cottage: kitchen, living room with fireplace (comfy sofas) the VHS and DVDs, the bedroom, the bathroom (have a bath with a view!) and Colettes dog's. Colette is the perfect host with a cosmopolitan flair. ATTENTION: this place is seriously contagious!!!

“Perfect location with views that evince feelings of serenity”

Where to begin. This part of Ireland (the Ring of Beara) is a well kept secret that i would highly recommend visiting. There was a cornucopia of things to see, do and visit. Our favourite spot was Gleninchiquin park with its stunning views of the lakes and Kenmare bay. Also, the drive on the R574 known locally as 'Healy's pass' is the most stunning driving road we have ever been on. Collette is the epitome of a great host and has great knowledge of quirky things to see and do in the local area and I concur with all the previous comments about her hospitality.

“Breath-taking views from every room”

A week was just not long enough at Hilltop Cottage. A welcoming, comfortable, cosy cottage with astonishing views in all directions. The wood burning stove adds to the friendliness of the cottage and Colette, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful and hospitable. This was our first visit to this part of Ireland and we fell in love with its unspoilt beauty and lack of crowds despite being peak season. If you are looking for a rural retreat amidst stunning scenery then this is definitely for you.

“A Haven of Tranquility”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2012

Hilltop Cottage is tastefully decorated, cosy, comfortable, peaceful, very well equipped, and with stunning views across Kenmare Bay....I could go on! The Beara Penninsula is beautiful, unspoiled and largely undiscovered, with very little traffic on the roads and plenty to explore, either on foot, or by car. The owner, Colette, is friendly and welcoming, with an abundance of local knowledge, yet is entirely respectful of the privacy of her guests, her organically grown fresh produce on offer a real bonus. We were entertained at times by Fifi and Foxy, Colette's two very well behaved dogs! Having travelled to many places across the globe, the 2 weeks we spent at Hilltop Cottage were undoubtedly the most blissfully relaxing time of our lives.

“Wunderbarer Urlaub in großartiger Cottage”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2012
