Location description from owner

The Paphos District

Latsi is situated in the North-West corner of Cyprus, nestling between the small picturesque town of Polis (Polis Chrysochous) and the beautiful Akamas peninsula National Park. This is a stunning region of Cyprus, steeped in history and offering wonderful country and coastal walks and cycling.

The main town of the region is Paphos, some 35 kms away. Paphos was first inhabited during the Troan war when ancient Greeks were lost trying to find their way back home. In the Greco-Roman times was the island's capital. Among its attractions are the world-famous ancient mosaic floors, a beautiful old harbor with it's Medieval castle and restaurants situated along the promenade. Other sights include an archaeological museum, the Tombs of the Kings, St. Paul’s Pillar and the Temple of Aphrodite (the goddess of love and beauty). Further inland is the old town of Paphos, known by the locals as Ktima, with its narrow streets, hustle and bustle, covered market and a typically Cypriot atmosphere, it is well worth a visit.

The coastal route from Latchi to Paphos offers stunning panoramas of the coastline and the distant hills of the Troodos Mountains. This part of the island possesses all the elements of a perfect holiday location, small sandy beaches that rank high on the list of some of Europe's best, lush natural surroundings, and entertainment to suit all tastes and infinite sporting activities for all ages.

Add to this a lovely subtropical climate, where the changes of season are miraculously distinct. Springtime signals colourful splashes of flowers, fruit and fauna. In the summer the wonderful beaches are perfect for sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling in the clear Mediterranean waters. Autumn is the perfect time to experience the sheer, natural beauty of the Akamas Peninsula where the delicate balance of nature is kept intact.

Winter is subtly cooler and within an hour of Latsi the Troodos Mountains offer spectacular scenery.
Close by, at the beginning of the Akamas national park (nature reserve) you will find the famous “Baths of Aphrodite”, where, according to legend, Aphrodite, the Goddess of love and beauty, bathed in the pool of a natural grotto under the shade of fig trees.

Latchi

Arsinoe beach together with Latsi harbour is a wonderful location to just relax and soak up the endless sunshine of the Cypriot summer, whether it be swimming in the warm, clear waters of the Mediterranean, sunbathing or watching harbour life from the comfort of a quayside taverns with a cold beer or glass of wine!

The scuba diving and water sports centre in Latsi offers the ideal opportunity to either start lessons in scuba diving or extend your experience in the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean. The centre also offers jet skiing, surfing, waterskiing and snorkelling. A range of boats is available for hire from Latchi harbour including speedboats, and traditional boat cruises are also available.

For keen walkers and cyclists, the nearby Akamas National Park offers a veritable paradise of endless walks and cycle ways, wild animals and birds, fauna, fantastic sea views and secluded coves with sandy beaches. Akamas is included in the official UNESCO world's heritage list of cultural and natural treasures. Please note cycles can be hired locally in Polis.

For golfers, there are three quality, panoramic, courses within an hour’s drive, all open to visitors, namely the Aphrodite Hills, the Secret Valley and Tsada Golf Clubs.

Eating out, whether it be lunch or dinner, is one of the real pleasures of holidaying in the region. There are few locations blessed with finer restaurants and taverns than Latsi and Polis. The local establishments are renowned for their wonderful use of fresh fish and local produce at very reasonable prices.

“Lovely, well equipped bungalow with wonderful view”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2013

One of the reasons we chose this bungalow over the others was that it had the little extras that make it that little bit more comfortable. Free wifi, a kingside bed, coffee maker. We also liked extra space on the veranda for table and chairs and the patio area is all paved. The shower outside is great after swimming. The owner from first contact is very helpful and the bungalow was very clean with towels and sheets changed regularly during our stay. She was also very quick at sorting out any problems we had. We loved walking along the beach path into Latchi at night, eating at Yiannos and Peter's or a short drive to Moustakalis in Polis. A fifteen minute drive to Kathikas to eat at The Farmyard restaurant is a must! One word of warning, the beach path is used regularly and unfortunately my swimsuit and beach towel that I had left on the patio were stolen during the night. Another morning the gate which has two bolts on had been opened. The security in the bungalow is very good, with a safe. Even if its for a quick swim its worth one person locking up and going out the front, as there is a path two houses along to the beach.

“Really lovely!”

Reviewed 19 Mar 2013

We had a four night stay here, and wished we could have stayed for a month! The bungalow was perfect, and perfectly placed a stone's throw from the sea. This was a winter break so not the scorching temperatures of summer, but it was snowing in England and we were able to have breakfast out on the patio in the sun, in our tshirts, which was wonderful. We explored the area, Latsi harbour is 5 minutes walk along the beach, plenty of restaurants along the harbour serving fresh fish; we walked in the Akamas national park with spectacular views, and would love to come back and go snorkeling in the blue lagoon along the coast. Christos the owner is very responsive and helpful; one of the lights went while we were there, and within minutes of an email, Christos had sent over someone to sort it out. The whole experience was memorable. Go there!

“Superb location and facilities”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2013

Even better than described by Christos, The bungalow is right on the beach and the views are magnificent, It is fitted out with everything one could ever need and has been very well thought out. Even if it rains one can still dine outdoors as the outside dining table is under cover. Very clean and bedding, towels etc were changed three times in our two week stay. The village is only a few hundred yards away and has a very good small supermarket (Yiotis) with prices often cheaper than the big supermarkets. Local harbourside restaurants are all good with Molos possibly the best. We will be back next year.

“Idyllic”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2012

My husband and I fell in love with Polis/Latchi some 15 years ago, we love the tranquility, character and friendliness of the people and the area. We will continue returning whenever possible. We discovered Arsinoe Beach Bungalows 4 years ago and stayed in one further down towards Polis. After further research we chose number 8 for our trip this year. It's lovely to have the space inside. The most amazing feature for me is to open the shutters every morning onto the view of the ocean with Latchi Harbour in the distance. I never ceased to say 'wow'. We particularly liked the patio garden, tables and chairs and we lived outside throughout, walking 100 yards to take a dip in the ocean and back to the sunbeds in the privacy of our own garden to dry off and laze. The property is immaculately clean and benefits from having a washer/dryer, full oven and excellent fridge freezer. We ate at Moustakalis in Polis, using Savvas in Polis square for snacks and drinks on an evening. Highly recommend number 8, just idyllic for our needs.

“You often lie thinking what it would be like to be in the perfect location on your holiday, now we know.”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2012

Well equipped, modern, but typically Greek. This villa offered our family a wide range of choices throughout the day. My wife and I tended to start early in the morning, a few hours on the beach before the heat of the mid day. Because we were so close to the apartment it meant the kids could choose to come with us or stay in bed! The gardens were ideal for those few hours leading up to lunch. The sea breeze from the beach and the choice of sun or shade, suited everyone. We enjoyed using the garden bar area for an aperitif in the early evening and watching the sun go down! How idyllic this was. Both Latchi and Polis are within walking distance, so early evening strolls and a wide variety of top class dining are always an option. What an experience to see the Loggerhead turtles hatch and scamper down the beach, like little wind- up toys! A car is useful for the hottest part of the day, when you can find welcoming tavernas in sleepy mountain villages but by no means essential. Would I recommend this villa? Yes but not too loudly as we would want to come back again!

“Great bungalow in a great location”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2012

Unlike other reviewers accustomed with rentals, this was our first staying in a rented home. I trusted the owner from the first telephone conversation and the renting procedure was very easy and quick. With the location details so accurate, we found the bungalow very easily. The front yard is big enough for two cars and one tree made a good shade for our car. Once inside, we were very pleased with the layout, kitchen appliances, couches, folding ottoman chairs, bedrooms... The surprise was when we opened the shutters: the sea in front of us, nice patio and garden, walled outdoor shower, big palm tree. Well, we cannot find a fault with this property and I think we were very lucky to find it. Everything that was stated was there, and more. This bungalow stays in the middle of Arsinoe beach bungalows and seems best placed and designed in terms of privacy, distance from the beach, parking space, garden and fence. It was clean, kitchen well provided, big fridge, pool noodles, beach shoes (for the pebbled part of the beach), free internet, excellent a/c in both bedrooms and in living room, bed linen and towels changed after four days – to name a few that I particularly noted. The location is very good, close to La Plage beach restaurant, 10-15 min walk (1 min drive) to Latchi tavernas and shops, 2-3 min drive to Polis tavernas, Kaite non-stop supermarket on the road towards Polis, 3-4 min to Anassa hotel (if you fancy a gooood massage!), 4-5 min to Aphrodite’s Bath and Akamas trails. We enjoyed a 4-hour boat trip along the northern part of Akamas Peninsula and, of course, the difficult drive through Akamas that we were longing for. This bungalow is an excellent find and we definitely go back. And even if it’s pet-friendly, we couldn’t find hair or chewed furniture or any sign that a pet ever stayed there, and believe me, we did check.

“Waking up to the sound and sight of the sea”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2012

Everything said about the house was true. It lived up to and exceeded our expectations. In particular the bed was very comfortable, there was heating (which we needed) and the position was fantastic

It was our pleasure to accomodate both of you at our holiday home and I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your kind review and hope to have you back soon.

“Amazing!”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2012

The sea was literally a stone’s throw from the villa. The view from the bedroom was unique and the perfect way to start our day. The furnishing of the villa was to a very high standard. We particularly enjoyed how comfortable the bed was – probably meeting the standards of 5* hotels. The owners of the villa were very friendly and ensured that we had everything we needed. We loved our stay and we would definitely recommend this place for romantic getaways or relaxing holidays. We will definitely return!

“A wonderful location”

Reviewed 18 May 2011

Having stayed at several villas and apartments in the past I have to say that the level of comfort and standard of equipment in this villa were second to none. The lovely private garden leads on to the beach and is much better than other villas in the area. The walk in to Latchi was along a lovely beach path and the whole holiday was fantastic. This villa has everything you could need this is the first time on holiday that we have had a bed as comfortable as we have at home!
