Villa Punta Coral is a spa­cious Caribbean dream home located on the Samaná penin­sula in the Domini­can Repub­lic. Splen­didly sit­u­ated within 60 meters of the coral shore, the deep blue ocean is a per­ma­nent part of the expe­ri­ence at the villa. It also lies right on the migra­tory path of the hump­back whales, so one can fre­quently observe whales right from the ter­race (Decem­ber through March). The swim­ming pool with open-air BBQ, as well as the large shaded ter­race, are very invit­ing for out­door enter­tain­ment. A gazebo offers wel­come shade and space for a ham­mock, so you can relax to the sooth­ing sounds of the ocean. Both the villa and the swim­ming pool were com­pletely ren­o­vated in 2012. The archi­tec­ture of Villa Punta Coral is breath­tak­ing and uses typ­i­cal local mate­ri­als, includ­ing a thick roof in palm tree leaves. The style of the fur­nish­ings and decor is arranged for cool, sim­ple, yet ele­gant Caribbean liv­ing. Each room has the nec­es­sary ameni­ties to enjoy a com­fort­able stay. Even a crib is available for babies and small children. The on-site caretakers, Rhadames and Sandra, are available 24/7. Villa Punta Coral is a place of seren­ity, refuge, renewal, and escape. The villa is sur­rounded by a lush gar­den with palm trees, shrubs, flow­ers, and grass. It also has a small pri­vate beach on the coral reef with 3 beach umbrellas in palm tree leaves and offers a spec­tac­u­lar view of the Samaná Bay. Breath­tak­ing sun­rises and moon­rises over the vast expanse of blue sea, com­bined with the gen­tle breeze swish­ing in the palm leaves all fuse together to cre­ate tru­ely spec­tac­u­lar out­door liv­ing at Villa Punta Coral.

Guests are received in person by the villa's caretakers and the property manager. Throughout your stay, the caretakers will provide daily cleaning and pool maintenance, as needed. Furthermore, they are always available when needed. If you need the property manager, he can always be reached via phone or Whatsapp, and I can swing by if needed. Other than that, we respect our guests' privacy.

I have taken note of the issues you experienced, and several of them will be addressed because they will indeed be an improvement for all our future guests, and are in line with the level of service we offer. Just one thing about the toll road from Santo Domingo to Samana, the cost is not $40 one way, but 455 pesos or $9.50, spread over 3 booths. Just before the airport there is a fourth booth, where one pays 60 pesos or $1.25, but only going to the airport, coming from the airport it's free. I am very happy that you had a fun vacation here in Las Galeras and at Villa Punta Coral. Tell your friends and family and we'll be happy to host them too!

Owner's reply: Hi Marvin, thanks for your detailed review. The weather was indeed a very troublesome factor during your stay, with torrential rains, floodings and humidity at its worst. Due to the extreme weather conditions, power went out numerous times, and the main cell phone tower in Samana was out for almost 4 days, causing general outage for both phone and internet for everyone on the Orange network (most of Las Galeras). I appreciate that you brought the hot water issue to our attention, so we can work on it. Constructive feedback helps us keep up our service and correct where needed. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
